I just came across a very interesting Blog, where this person possibly talks about Virtua Fighter stamped PAL.A being potentially a PAL/50Hz version of the game for Europe.

Color encoding doesn't exist in the arcade world. Virtua Fighter looks and runs the same regardless of region.
