I bought a second hand Wellon VP-390 programmer but found ZERO information about what software to use for it. Nor if the device works in Windows 10.

After figuring this out, I'm posting this for reference in case anyone runs across this problem.

The latest version of the Wellon software, v4.7.5 works with the VP-390 and auto-detects it as VP-390+.

The drivers are not installed automatically.

Plug in the programmer via the USB cable and open the Device Manager -- the programmer will show up somewhere as an "unknown device".
NOTE: I originally assumed that it would show up in the USB section of Device Manager, but it appeared elsewhere.

After selecting the unrecognised device, manually install the 64-bit driver, that is copied to your HDD after installing v4.7.5 of the software from the following directoy: C:\weilei\WELLON\usbsys64

I assume the same process works in Windows 11.

Also FWIW, I installed the Wellon software above on Windows 7 running via Parallels on an old Macbook and didn't need to install the drivers, seems to work just fine.

It's recommended to use an external power supply with this programmer for some chips and a pop-up will appear prompting you when required.

Hope this helps someone down the line.
