I see someone in my local area selling this, and he's willing to sell it pretty cheap fully functional and working after messaging him. It uses DIP Switches to change the game before booting up. But he said that all the games are in Japanese language, and that they can't be changed out.

Anyone know what 32-1 CPS2 system this is? And is there no way to make these games English version? I also included the game list on there. It has Punisher on there so thought that was neat. Kind of want to get it if I can put other versions on there.

Chinese multi board from aliexpress. Typically runs at about $300 USD. Games are not chargeable easily. The board would need quite a bit of investigation to work out what everything was doing and then have some ics removed and reflashed not an easy job but not impossible. Basically they are a pretty cheap solution, I would spend the money on a darksoft.
I have a CPS1 multi from likely the same aliexpress seller 'sqarcade' ' cn retro arcade' or 'double dragon'. Mine was free and I am considering selling it to buy a darksoft cps1 multi.

Hey thanks for taking the time to reply to this.

While the Darksoft is pretty awesome, I'm still kind of interested in this mainly because of how much he'd be willing to let it go for well well below the $300 (and still has it available).

My friend would take a look at reflashing it with roms he said with his tools and desoldering whatever needed to be done, but he's not gonna do the research on it unfortunately. So that's why I was curious about it as it still seems like an interesting project if the games could be changed from Japanese to English.

I mean it's still kind of worth it for the motherboard at this point. I'm curious if there is any documentation anywhere on it where it stores the roms?

Like most aliexpress copies there is next to no documentation (that I can find).
A few other things you should know:
Voltages appear to jump around a bit on my cps1 multi, I have not done a full investigation but it looks like it's is a build quality issue.
A lot of cold solder around the place. Mine came from a guy who had purchased one of these on aliexpress then had problems and wanted me to look at it. I replaced a few things and resoldered almost everything (which took hours) and charged him $100 aud (about $75usd) because I felt bad actually charging him for my time (about 4-5hrs at $50usd an hour but this includes an hour or 2 working out what i was looking at) he never came to pick it up and stopped answering calls so after 12 months I decided it was probably my problem to deal with.
Even after this I still appear to have an issue with light kick which randomly goes off every once in a while (maybe once every 3 rounds in streetfighter) it is slightly annoying but not critical...yet
The kick harness header is installed backwards and wired backwards so the first time I wired up an nh kick harness things were in the wrong spot. I incorrectly assumed that I must have wired it backwards so made another one to end up with the same problem. There is also some problem that requires you to cut off the clip on a standard nh female connector to get it to go on. I am not sure if this is just because it is backwards or if this is because they used the wrong header. I worked it out once before but have forgotten now.
All games are phoenix copies (unencrypted) most have minor rom issues for example streetfighter occasionally had character voices drop out or single instruments on the music drop out (not common and it could be my A board but again I seem to remember getting it down to a rom issue previously)
There are other rom issues too most games have them none are unplayable because of them.
Mine has a few bad CPS 1.5 hacks where the sound is shocking because the game Waa designed for qsound.
Think that's it
If it is significantly cheaper than $300 it may be ok, but like most old hardware don't expect it to be 100% plug and play expect a few issues.

I have that same exact one (CPS2) and I love it. Has all the games I like. Even came with remote so you can switch games remotely. Unfortunately I shorted something (my fault) and remote don't work anymore. Good thing is, all you do is move the dip switches to the game you want and done. 1 year later and still working good.

OH Interesting @erdrick1980. Seller doesn't have a remote for the CPS2, but that's cool. Wonder how that worked and if there is a way to make it work with a universal remote or something. But yeah the DIP switches seemed fine for changing the games as long as you got the list.

Regarding what you said @Big_P Big_p his CPS-2 looks pretty clean and didn't see any issues on the board with bad soldering, and the Kick Harness wiring works like normal for his. Maybe the original sellers cleaned it up by the time they worked on the CPS2, or maybe this owner fixed issues. But looks clean overall.

Yeah I figured they were using the unencrypted versions of the ROMs. Just still wondering which one of these sets of chips on the board carry the ROMs to replace them with. Would be cool if the they could be swapped out for different versions.

The 8 eproms on the left of the top board in your picture, is where I would start looking, but you would also need to know how the dips were working to select a game. However if you kept the same games in the same order, typically with CPS games you can change the language by just changing one byte, but again it would likely take longer to work out and cost more (if you account for your time) that just buying a darksoft multi. If someone already knew the answers to these questions it may be doable. I could probably work it out but starting from knowing virtually nothing about the board it would take me quite a while, playing in Japanese us not that bad anyway, I tend to play most streetfighter in Japanese. I think it is because someone once told me that it is harder but I doubt this is true, so it's just habit now.
The alpha games with the modes may be a to y pain but if you remember what's what you will be fine.

Totally understand and you're right, it's not horrible playing the Japanese version anyway. It's all just interesting since it's so cheap.

I might end up picking it up and giving to my friend and see if he wants to take a look at those 8 eproms as you mentioned to see if he can read the data with his fancy machines he's got. Hopefully like you said it's pretty easy, or just replacing the English Rom files in the same ones to keep everything in order with his thing.

Too bad they never documented it when they created this thing.

Thank you guys for responding to this thread. Was pretty much giving up on it and wasn't gonna get it, but now I've got renewed interest in it.
