I have a Euro region Warriors of Fate I’m trying to revive that isn’t responding to 1. reprogramming the Kabuki with an Arduino & new battery installed & 2. also doesn’t boot up with an open Kabuki key installed & the battery removed. I’m suspecting my Kabuki chip itself is dead as I get a black screen (with sync) with each scenario.

I’d love to get my copy of WOF up & running again without hacking the board with modified roms/that Dead Battery Society fix.
If you have a known working Kabuki chip gathering dust somewhere, I’ll buy it from you no matter how ridiculous shipping might be!

Found one thanks to @ack. Thanks to those that offered help.

A lot of those dead stock A-Boards that popped up in China without the sound section had Kabuki chips on them.

Worth people who bought one of those checking for you as they’re useless for regular CPS-1 games or the multi as you just need a regular z80.

Maybe @sheep_nova can help out. Send him a pic of one.

@djsheep That’s not a bad idea. Some CPS2 A boards also have a Kabuki on them running in decrypted mode (jumpered to do so that way on the A board) instead of a Z80. My gut knows it’s this damn Kabuki chip giving me grief. I don’t want to go down the decryption rabbit hole; I just want to play my darn game as it was programmed out of the factory!

I’d also rather not spend $125+ to get a pre CPS1.5 kabuki game just for the Kabuki chip…not even a CPS1 A-01 chip is worth that much alone (though maybe it is?) :D

I’m sure someone like @sheep_nova could just farm one off a board for you. Price wise I’m thinking $10-20 for a kabuki is about right. Good luck with the hunt.
