Hello! As the title says, I need a Ricoh RF5C68 (ou ASSP 5C68A) to fix my Moonwalker.

Can anyone sell me one?

Thanks!

Isn't it the PCM chip?
If so I believe you can find it in a dead MCD.

MEGA-CD/SEGA System 32 use a bespoke variant of RF5C68 called "RF5C164" (315-5476/315-5476A) which SEGA has the Ricoh datasheet for it included on the MEGA-CD programmers kit.

While it is a improved RF5C68A chip, it has physical differences on how it outputs the audio. It is meant to be connected to a serial DAC, which on the case of the MEGA-CD is a Sanyo LC7881 (16 bit right-justified serial audio, not I2S but similar)

If you get the types mixed the chip will get red hot and DIE!!

There's a few board versions each with a different chip, this goes for system 18,32 and Mega CD.

Some will swap around but it's to do with the time it was manufactured, not so much the hardware type.
The board layouts are changed as the chip changed over the years.

> Go from the silkscreen under the IC, make sure it matches your donor board EXACTLY.
