You'll also want a Fast IO for your Vewlix FC (control panel) if you are going to go X4.
 
Must've misunderstood what they meant by "USB" - this isn't my #1 goal and can be put off until much later. I'd still like a PCB.

As I always say, the time to buy is when it is for sale.

Potentially... I don't own a X4, but the units I've seen seem to support Fast IO and JVS.
Even if the X4 unit can work with "normal" (HID) USB gamepads, do you have a USB solution for the Vewlix (control panel)?
 
Ttx4 has a usbio dmac card, no jvs or fastio as far as I know. Everyone I know just connects brooks ufb to it or harvest a fastio card from ttx3

If you are getting the X4, you really should get the Fast IO too.
I believe some of the games on these popular multi images won't work without one.
 
X3 has the fastio input and you can use that with stock vewlix wiring if you were so inclined, but sounds like you want to run consoles as well, so you want brooks UFB I assume and just ignore all vewlix wiring basically.

You can of course buy premade adapters to adapt vewlix wiring to brooks.

I'm confused - are you saying X4 can take direct USB in as Xinput?

How can you Brooks guys live with the USB switching issue?
Everytime you turn on the PC it has the potential to see either USB device first...
When that happens player 1 becomes player 2 etc etc.

Sure I've read others saying "just open up and swap the cables around" but that's the solution?
Again how can you Brooks guys live with that?

Its unprofessional, hacky and sloppy IMO, I wouldn't be caught dead.
Call me old fashion, but I want a single power switch, I press it entire machine is on and ready for use.

It’s just a regular pc if you are running a multi. You can plug in keyboard, mouse, xbox controller, whatever. If you are running the actual game that is on the x4 then you need whatever usb card that comes with it with support from who knows where since they normally all require japanese network.

I don’t use brooks, but someone did link me a fix for PC. I didn’t save or try it of course. Had something to do with device IDs and devcon running at startup or something.
 
I have 1 for sale pulled from a magicians dead cab we never put on location
