Update: Screw SE's limited US distribution and $25 shipping on a single game, PlayAsia has it now!

Square Enix apparently made 4 copies of the standard editions and released them in the middle of the night with no warning. So I missed out, and the wait list is now gone.

What I did manage to get is a Switch version of the collector's edition before those got removed too.

What I would like to set up before the May release is a swap. I missed out on standard edition, and I'm sure someone else has missed out on the collector's.

Actual cost for actual cost. Either one of, or both switch and PS4 standard editions plus the difference in cash for the CE.

So jacked up what SE did. I totally missed the whole damn thing. Why would you do a release like that with no warning and a bunch of your audience asleep.

I was (still am) pretty miffed about the entire situation. Never missed a limited release I was interested in, amiibo, consoles (Halo xsx excluded because I misread), etc. Just show up on time or have Twitter alerts on and you'll always get that stuff. 0 notice on this and released at like 11pm pst or something...

Looked like they sold out of standard in under 2 hours from the timing of Twitter posts. PS4 CE were gone before I woke up at 6am too.

Exactly. I'm not gonna lie the pricing kind of pisses me off too. But hey it's limited so they charge what they charge. I can't wrap my head around why they charge so much for shipping though. Every time they have an inventory purge sale I get sucked in and reminded, then nope out of it. Didn't mean to offrail your post, just kind of a what the hell situation they created.

Even more boggling, everyone is saying it was 27 to ship the standard release but I paid 19.99 to ship the collector's. Absolutely no sense.

Oh no, most of my marketplace threads turn into rants and chatting, so don't even worry about it. Lol
 
I'm in the same boat (though not seeking out a trade), hope it works out for you. I caught the release and added one of each to my cart so I wouldn't have to pay $50 in shipping, but it sounds like it was glitched for everyone that did that and the cart didn't load. It was almost 2 on the east coast, so I went to bed and intended to deal with it in the morning. Kicking myself now, but oh well. Probably looks better on SNES anyway. The PS4 trophies are compelling. I wouldn't be surprised if they relisted them soon, it sounds like lots of people aren't happy. The FFXVI collector's edition went up at an announced time earlier in the week, dropping this in the middle of the night was uncool. The whole situation is pretty anti-consumer either way.

I believed that when there was a wait list link, but now that's been removed and they're just listed as no longer available :/

And font aside, the remakes do look quite good this round. Unlike *gestures at every FF 1-6 remake until now*.

Yeah, I signed up for them when they were available, but I trust Twitter more anyway. I'd guess they made these limited to make sure they sell through, but they probably weren't expecting this big of a response. Being able to sell more @ $75 each would probably motivate them more than pleasing fans.

Definitely, they put some effort into these.
 
Play-Asia won't have PS4 copies, just got this email:

PlayStation 4 version:

Square Enix has confirmed to us that the game won't be released physically on the
PS4. There was a misunderstanding about the possibility between us and Square Enix.
Hence, we will have to cancel all current pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 version.

We are aware that this is not the news you were hoping for and it was not our
intention to put you through this experience.

Note:
1. Orders that only contain one item will be cancelled, and a refund will be issued
using the original payment method.

Looks like the font has been fixed. Billing has started too. I'm still holding out for a restock of standard-edition PS4 copies.

Me too!

I got switch pre-ordered elsewhere but I really just wanted the PS4 version.
