A While back, I made this kit and posted about it here: https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?t=26746

This was actually my first custom candy panel :) I sold the kit a few years after, and always regretted do so.
Eventually I came across a set of spinner on ebay, so I decided to improve upon my old design a bit while building a new panel ;)

Even at 1000$ USD, They came in a bit rough... starting with this busted retainer screw I had to extract.

Of course they were filthy and barely spinning. So I had to service them.

One done, one to go. clean vs dirty for reference,

and just listen to do this...

I always do a test fitting before putting the overlay on ( in this case I had to re-install the studs for the spinners, I forgot that the mounting plates have holes in weird locations.. sigh )

Got a nice overlay from Alberto, laser cut to match the panel, so I didn't have to do any overlay trimming :)

Awesome! I picked up a NOS spare spinner last year and it makes that horrible grinding sound. Would love to send it to you for servicing :D

Me and a friend are doing this….

In proto stage currently since i don't have the exact measurements of the japanise spinner, so this could not be 100% correct….
But the topper is just Amazing also this way….
Maybe it will be reduced a little since i think it's too big (5,8cm) and the holes need to be more deep (currently 2mm).
It would be great to have the exact measurements from a real one…..this way the repro will be exactly the same.

I think that 5,6cm of diameter and 4mm of hole deep should be ok and more similar to the real jap one.
It will be used on a modified Taito spinner….
We'll start doing this topper in some times, and some will be available if there is some interest about.

damn. Get that CPS1 multi out and you will sell these like hot cakes.

I'm wondering if making a reproduction of the whole spinner is something feasible at a reasonable price, maybe $150-200 each or something similar. Since the CPS1 Multi is coming soon there is no doubt there will be a lot more people interested in the spinners. I would purchase a couple for sure.

\o/.k.

@codecrank : I'm wondering : How did you manage to take the cap off the knob ? I need to access to the screw underneath. Thanks in advance

Looks like its held on with some double sided adhesive tape. Hot air gun to warm it up and pry the cap with a flat headed tool?

I wouldn't even use a hot air gun, as to not damage the paint job on the caps. just pry them off with a hard plastic tool. like the ones for fixing phones.
