Naomi multi BIOS (fixed with proper bootstrap)

So i burned it and tried a few games.

all the naomi games i have tried are working and ALL of the atomis wave are giving me a
Black screen or an Error 22 - COMMUNICATION ERROR OCCURRED BETWEEN MAIN BOARD AND OPTION BOARD

.

I've reseated it 3 times, same thing ||

I'll try and try again ...

Guess I have weekend plans now... have to go through my bin and look for a M27C160 (unless someone can confirm that other EEPROMs work).

Edit: Nope... got some M27C1024s, a M27C801 and a few M27C1001s.

I don't have that, but I am not the best test subject as I am still running on a vanilla revision B bios on naomi 2 and G bios on naomi1, I plan on testing the proper multibios soon, though I suspect the fact that I am actually using Atomiswave converts that use a proper (and fixed per game) header (I rebuilt the headers from the original AW header at 0xFF00 , used a unique ID and got rid of the AWNAOMI crap), sharing the same NAOMI header across all games isn't a good idea at all as they share the same ID and thus settings won't be cleared if you boot another AW game, which will cause issues (error 22 being one of those). Then again, perhaps the AW loader doesn't like the multi bios patches (that's quite unlikely though).
 
So, I did some more testings on my naomi2 using the vanilla sega BIOS, here is what I found

The revision B Japanese bios would load all atomiswave games with no issues, as soon as I switched to the C version I got error 22 in games like Hokuto no ken/Fist of the North Star.

In theory I could fix the AW games to run on the latest bios but G and B bioses seem to run everything anyway, so why bother?

I made G and B versions of the bios I sent to someone for testing (to see if they pass the holly checksum) and will release them if the test is conclusive.

You could use an MX29F1615.

or should i wait for the G and B version?
i bought the eeprom from buyicnow few hours ago and they sent an email not long ago they have shipped which i doubt since it's night time.
i sent an email asking the seller to hold the shipment since there might be a new rom file to flash. hope i am in time.
 
I just burnt the Naomi 1 chip for a forum member, also wondering if I should hold out for this new version or not?

From my tests, AW converted games have compatibility issues with the latest sega BIOS (does not matter if they are multi or vanilla) which causes an error 22 on some games, I tested the same games on rev G and B vanilla bioses with no issues, so if you are interested on running AW games you may want to wait for the test results on the multi version for these.

I'd like an EEPROM with the new multiBIOS for a NAOMI 1 board. Anyone willing to post one to the UK? I can pay with sausages. (Don't worry, cash too).

TIFU: So I got a couple of M27C160's, only to find that they have too many legs for my EPROM writer.... really should have checked if I can burn them before tracking them down. Does look like adapters exist (TL866II USB programmer), but I may need to track down more current software to drive it.

Edit: Looks like there's an open source software set now "MiniPro" that these adapters are intended to be used with. So to the ebays for to buy an adapter kit!
