I also usually prefer original hardware because if I wanted fpga i'm totally happy with the MiSTer.
But that's just basic reasoning. Sometimes it's dogmatic and passionate thinking. For this case fpga usage is limited, I believe I'm just going to trust experienced people for whatever is beyond my knowledge.
From my hobbyist pov i've never been disappointed by DS directions. I'm just going to trust them.
What really matters to me is whatever happens with my multi even if I didn't buy it directly there's always a great support for solid products and never regret owning them.
If you don't want it you can still buy original hardware, mister, pc emulation make your own multi or whatever feels right to you. For my part I own all of them and I always use DS multis when I want to play all the Capcom stuff.
Why ? because now for me it's tied to how arcade projects feel right, have access to the most with the less compromises.
