MT-32 / GM / GS Sound module thread

The best sounding GM box sets were by Roland - the 55,88 & the daddy the ISA SCC-1.. in fact any of the devices bearing the 'sound canvas' logo adhere to all the basics for a GM device - that is all the instruments and drum sets are standardised and good quality. The issue is connecting them...

Taito F3 Make Your Motherboard Region Free

i just rocked the tabs back and forth with a thin pliers for a while and they came away cleanly. the plastic isn't brittle enough to 'snap', but it will come away if you grip it as close to the bottom of the socket as you can and work it. any pins that get knocked about when doing this can be...

Possible to Mod a Taito F3 Board for Better Sync Compatibility?

I noticed i had to find a new 'sweet point' for my VI2500 (don't laugh!) chassis when i added in the F3, and it took a little bit of comparing the 6 boards on the system to find a point where all of them were happy. It DOES appear slightly off centre when compared to some other boards, but it's...

    F3 Line level sound

I missed that totally about Pin 11 & M! Just went for the usual Pin 10 etc as they were wired on my harness, pretty sure 11 and M are not.. OK, this makes sense., I'll investigate pins 11/M and see what they are doing.

    F3 Line level sound

Just had a good burn there on Darius.. no issues using a pad on the Jamma speaker out to the sound system.. I suspect it should in fact produce stereo though, as the soundtrack is put together far too well to *not* be in stereo in fairness - layers of streamed PCM music and at least 4 channels...

    F3 Line level sound

Well, to be clear, i'm taking the audio from the Jamma loom straight from the F3, which should be expecting to see a mono speaker, but i'll check the game/board menus now and see if it is doing it's magic trick to generate stereo from 1 pair, as that would explain alot. Interesting.. Thought...

    F3 Line level sound

I run an amp for my arcade boards' sound, feeding a Sub and 2 6x9 2 ways. The amp is fed from a small 12 channel mixer. I have 6 boards on a switcher in one cabinet. Some boards have LINE level audio out, so there are no problems. Some require a pad to reduce speaker level to LINE level. The F3...

    Bubble Bobble Prototype

any point in using a bath of acetone to soften the epoxy? works wonders in cases where resin has started to conduct, like in the Roland Juno Synth voice chips.. You might be able to clean the board totally then.. IDK, might be a different resin, but you can test on a piece of the resin that has...
