    Cocktail?

Hi, Long time, I'm finally starting to clear space for a permanent arcade fixture, so time to resurface 😂. OK, so I just had a thought. 2P cocktail with any 2P game, lets just use Street Fighter as an example. So a CPS2, all the adapters, DExx-vd_isl and a widescreen monitor. Would it be...

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

Trawling through my memory banks... I remember I had similar problems with soldering my board, I suspected a cold joint and putting a bit of hot air on it fixed it. I used a cheap Hot Air Desoldering SMD Rework Station but you could probably get away with a heat gun with a small nozzle and a...

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

Fully aware that Frank hasn't been here in years (can't thank Frank enough for all he's done) but I have a couple of these and I want a compatible mini DIN to VGA cable, what do folks use, from memory it's "Saturn" inspired?

    LCD init and no output

Interesting comment on the SD card holder in the Sparkfun page:

    LCD init and no output

@Darksoft thanks, you're spot on, it's the socket, I'm guessing it's a cold solder joint, I've managed to get the multi working today, my guess is the hot air improved things and wiggling got it working. I think this is it https://www.sparkfun.com/products/127 dang it's surface-mount, I...

    LCD init and no output

Thanks, not sure about the "existing" SD, there are some erroneous hidden Mac files on there though, this SD reads fine in Windows and it was working fine before I put the multi into the cupboard. The new SD, I formatted and moved the test files to that using Windows.

    LCD init and no output

Thanks, I've used compressed air on it and also I surrounded the SD card socket in kapton tape and used my hot air rework box to heat up the socket just in case there was a cold solder joint on there, nothing has worked. It was stored indoors, in the protective case, in a cupboard. The CPS...

    LCD init and no output

Thanks, tried all that. I got a brand new 16GB formatted to FAT32 with and SD Formatter tool from the SD card association, is that the one, I copied over the test folders from here https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/romset-to-verify-your-cps2-kit.11886/#post-191917 to see if that worked...

    LCD init and no output

Hi, System was working fine, it's been in a cupboard for 6 months, took it out today, powered on to just "LCD init" on the display and no video. I bought this with the mod already performed. The CPS fan is going. The battery was removed at some point in the past. I've tried IPA to clean it...

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

I used @Frank_fjs DIN to SCART PCB and an off the shelf DIN cable, works great.

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

It depends on your knowledge level but a logic probe is a pretty cheap and easy to use troubleshooting tool: https://www.amazon.com.au/Elenco-LP900-625-Logic-Pulser/dp/B0002E7X5O You basically connect it to your PSU 5v and when you touch a pin or PCB contact you can hear the logic, or the audio.

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

@klee123 all good, did you get it from ebay or someone on here? I had no audio on the minigun because I decided to leave out the audio jack, the audio jack has a switch in it so even if you don't use the jack you need it to get audio out of the DIN. If you bought yours assembled then it's not...

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

Gotcha, CPS2 definitely doesn't need -5v and Denjin Makai II looks like it doesn't need it either, all my old Konami boards need it.

What arcade board are you using, some of them need -5v (minus 5v) also?

Yes, the DIN connector on the minigun carries sound.

Thanks @xodaraP I have continuity pcb - usb --------------- 1 red - [+] 2 wht - [D-] 3 grn - [D+] 4 blk - [shield] 5 blk - [shield] Now pin 4 on the USB [-] is not connected but I was thinking that that doesn't matter if the PCB is getting negative (PCB pin 4) from the shield wire? The white...
