I have a HOD 1 cabinet with a HOD 1 motherboard (100% working), i have the possibility to buy Virtua Cop 2 rom board.
My doubt is: It´s possible to put the VC 2 rom board in the HOD 1 motherboard and play it?

And Virtua Cop 1?

Regards

VC1 uses an early version Model "2" board.
HOTD1 uses a late version Model "2C CRX" board.

I don't believe you can ROM swap between model versions.

VC 2 uses Model 2A CRX, it´s possible to use VC 2 Rom board in a HOTD1 motherboard?

I believe 2A CRX only with other 2A CRX games.
2B CRX only with other 2B CRX games.
and 2C CRX only with other 2C CRX games.

My understanding has always been that these systems while very close are not interchangeable.

Reminds me of House of the Dead 2, which is a early revision Naomi board...
It is NOT interchangeable with other Naomi carts/DIMMs/etc.

we've actually since learned that the board revision doesn't seem to matter. it's actually just the bios that's different.

I thought that the newer, shorter motherboard Naomis wouldn't work with HOTD2?

I can test this is in a week when I have the actual rom board in hand.

The discussion I was thinking of is here: Games Fixed to work with DIMM

Basically older BIOSes (NAOMI Rev A, B, and C bios as well as the HOTD2 BIOS) require a small chip on the mobo for the bios to function. This chip isn't populated on late model NAOMIs since newer BIOS revs don't need it. I suppose it's not entirely accurate to say that the board revision doesn't matter, but ultimately the compatibility problem is that HOTD2 needs a special BIOS and that special BIOS is only compatible on NAOMI mobos where that chip is populated.

Someone recently posted pictures of Zero Gunner 2 running on a HOTD2 board, so that seems to be confirmed.
