CPS2 power supply?

Hello all.
I have heard that the cps2 system only uses the 5v portion of the power supply. is that correct?
I was hoping to refit my multicade that runs a blue elf with the cps2 and darksoft board set.

I was thinking that I could use the power supply and Jamma harness, only needing to add the kick harness and CPS2 set.
Is that correct or do I need to change the power supply and main harness?

It's JAMMA. It plugs right into a JAMMA harness and will work fine.

That is not correct. 12V is required for the audio section to function properly.

As undamned mentioned, no 12V no audio, even from the RCA plugs.
