Gear shifter Daytona USA Arcade - How to remove the mounting plate?

Hello, my old shifter is totally full of rust. This I would like to exchange. So I have ordered a new one. The only question is how do I get the mounting plate off.

Turning or pulling does not work. Neither the old nor the new, solid as concrete.

What do I have to do ?

Looks like you nearly got there unscrew the pin sticking out of the side of the shaft remove the e clip holding the plastic block then the shaft will pull out of the plastic block and then come out through the top of the plate

I just can't imagine that I really have to disassemble the whole shifter just to change the knob
