Just picked this up a few weeks ago and going through it. I’m recovering from rotator cuff surgery so not 100% I one arm.

I have no familiarity with these at all or this gdrom thing.

My first goal is clean it up and fix any major scratches. I’m not sure if I need to get all the powder coat done yet.

Disassembly first and I want to get it back to being a jamma machine. I’m guessing it is a JVS cab. I found a track all encoder in it.

Do these wires looks “standard”? I’m guessing something else was mounted to the back because of the holes in it and what is up with these external inputs? Any ideas?

Thanks all!

this is TwistedSymphony's restore thread. u can find lots of good info there.

https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Taito_Egret_29
this link has a list of the parts and how they go together as well as a wiring diagram. should help u.

as for the GD rom thing, that is for the CD based Naomi games and isnt part of the egret 29.

good luck with your restoration and i wish you the best! congrats on the new bird!

edit: i see u asked about those composite inputs on the outside of the cab as well. those are not native to the cab either.

It’s the week of the egret 29.

Seeing yours makes me see how nice mine looks! :(

You appear to be on the right path to make it real nice!

Your gonna have to do ALOT of sanding.

I would use plumbers epoxy to fill the burns and sand them down.

Then it’s up to you whether you want to prime and paint or leave it to the pros at your local auto paint shop

I second the plumbers epoxy. It is so good that I once used it to redo the curves on a metal framed sunroof opening that was part of a headliner board. It took forever but ten years later and it is still as solid as the day I did it. Glad I spent the time as you can see every single bump otherwise. Even the factory ones had them. Not mine.

Hijacking the thread a little for @rewrite who asked some measurements of my yellow marquee thingy.

I dont know if its original but it aint bad!
Only the bottom is cut straight, the rest is 45’

I started to measure by hand then technology helped so how are these?!

Oh man, I'm sorry, not the yellow marquee, but the big that says "EGRET 29" on the pod. It's an acrylic piece inside.

Ahhh I'm sorry you went through all that work on the wrong part T_T.

Curious to see how accurate these measurements are.
