Guideis for the following Games:
Jamma IO(SoundSection) Boot Section with Harddrive Video Card
If you are purchasing a full upgrade kit you should have the following items:
direction when installing the chips in this kit. The chips have a
notch on one end that tells you which direction they are to be
installed. There is a corresponding notch printed on the game
boardas well to help.
Step1. Installing the Security Chip (U37)
Thesecurity chip is labeled ‘U37’ or sometimes it will just belabeled
‘security’. It is the smaller of the two chips included in the kit. Thesecurity
chipis installed on the Sound Section PCB. If your game board has anoriginal
securitychip already installed it will have a sticker on it with a barcode.
Removethe barcoded chip or any chip installed at location U37. Install the
newsecurity chip that was included in the kit. You will notice thatthere are two
chipson this part of the game board. The other chip is in location U44,
leavethis chip alone, it doesn’t matter if it has a label for the oldgame on it,
thechip is the same for all the games except Tenth Degree.
Step2. Installing the Boot Rom (U27)
TheBoot Rom is the larger chip, it will be labeled ‘U27’ or ‘Boot’etc..
TheBoot Rom is installed onto the middle board (Boot Section withHarddrive).
Thereare two slots on this board. You should already have a chipinstalled in location
U27. Remove the chip at U27 and install the new Boot Rom. The othersocket will be
leftempty(it as the word ‘Expansion’ printed in the middle of it). Notice that the notch
ison the opposite side of the socket compared to the notch on theSecurity Chip. DO NOT
INSTALLTHE EPROM BACKWARDS! IT WILL FRY THE CHIP.
Step3. Installing the Harddrive
Dependingon which type of kit you purchased you will either have a normal IDE3.5” Harddrive,
oryou will have a Compact Flash drive. If you bought the IDE harddrivethen simply disconnect
theoriginal drive and connect the new drive exactly as the original onewas. If you bought a
compactflash version kit, then there are a few different types of compactflash readers and
installationis a little different. If you receive the horizontal CF reader, thenjust connect your
IDEribbon cable to the CF reader and then connect the power cord. Ifyou receive a vertical
“directinsertion” type CF reader, then remove the IDE ribbon cable fromthe boardset itself,
thenplug the CF reader directly into the IDE pins. The direction iffaces depends on the type
ofCF reader you receive also. There is a notch on one side of the CFreader, it must face outwards.

- 2 - Video Card Failure with Blitz/Showtime (Or loose connection between middle
- Eu (Flashes E,u) - Bad Video Card - Guantlet Dark Legacy and Legends
- 0 (dimm) - Games apears to boot but not quite - Video Cable Connection
- "Booting phx0:game.exe" - Wrong Video card installed in Blitz/Showtime
- 0 (Bright) - Blitz/Showtime Working properly
- 6. (Scolling dash then 6.) - Guantlet Dark Legacy / Legends Working Properly
