Hello.
I would like to know a little more about PAL ,GAL IC.
The IC was missing from the PCB.
Black screen after power on.
I searched and found GAL16V8 Jedec file for a city connection PCB: GAL16V8 7U JEDEC. I tried burning it.
He was very happy because the PCB started. Unfortunately, I can't set the sync. (Can be seen in the pictures) What could be wrong? Is it not good because of the PAL-GAL exchange?

Thanks

Seems there were two revisions of bootlegs. 1 was unlocked and can just be dumped. Other one probably more true to the original and needed bruteforce.

Not sure if that is a sync issue??

unfortunately I can't burn PAL ICs. I don't know if the PAL /GAL IC data.. is causing the sync problem. Tomorrow I will try to burn a PAL IC at one of my friends, see if I can succeed.

U can convert the pal into gal. Isnt the pal from a different pcb altogeter than the gal one listed, is what i am thinking..

Basically i see a pcb 1 and pcb 2. Pcb one bootleg has no security and was just a straight dump. 2nd pcb version had to be brutefoced.

How do I convert an old PAL JEDEC file for use in a newer GAL device?

Use PALtoGAL Conversion Utility Software. A software utility from Lattice called PALtoGAL can be used to convert a PAL JEDEC file to a GAL JEDEC file. This software is also capable of changing the User Electronic Signature (UES) without changing the functional fuse data. A copy of the PALtoGAL conversion software can be downloaded from the Lattice web site at http://www.latticesemi.com/dynamic/view_document.cfm?document_id=303. (You will have to login to download the file.)
The file name is PALTOGAL.EXE.
If you do not find your device in the list of supported device, then there is no direct conversion to a GAL device and you will have to retarget your design.

ohhh very good! Thanks!!!
I'll try it right away tomorrow

If u pm porchy he might be able to convert it for u. Have u checked everything else?

I chose the retain option. This was successfully converted. I put this in the pcb and made a video about it that you can see.

Just making sure you have tested all the components leading to that pal? also the ones its connected too? and the socket? If so i will need to take a look at mine when I have the time and see how the sync circuit works
