Mod chip

Sorry for the noob question. But I purchased this board a couple of years ago 2017 or 2018. Can't remember exactly. It was in my closet. And i finally open it up. And notice there is some type of mod chip attached to it. I want to know what it does or is it a repair of some sort. Yes I buy things and hoard them up in a closet. And open it up a couple years later.

nope, it's just something they did at the factory instead of remaking all the pcbs.
the chip is just an LS08 -- a simple AND logic gate.
