Posted this at AO, but I think this forum might be a bit more active on the tech. :)

Bought a New Astro City recently in pretty decent condition. The tube has some light burn-in from mahjong and other stuff but it's barely visible when shining a light on it. Not visible in-game. The MS9 chassi looks like it has been serviced and recapped so geometry, sharpness etc is fine. Convergence seem fine as well. But I have some other weird issue and I'm not sure what's going on if it's the tube or chassi is shot. The whites are bleeding through on some places and it's always towards the right (check the flags in screens below). Most white and grey colors have an uneven shade of yellow/brown instead, and it doesn't seem to have to do with the burn-in.

I have tuned the chassi screen pot, rgb cut offs and rgb gains to have proper levels according to emphs guide here.

Don't know if you can tell, but the uneven yellowing is very visible on the Mr Driller Logo and on the test pattern. Strangely enough the lines are properly white when diagonal but you can still tell the difference in the border, it's white in the screen edges but yellow on the horisontal lines. All vertical lines are white though. It's very evident on the rest of the test patterns. It's not like the whole screen have a yellow tint due to missing a color, the whites are just that...yellow/brown and uneven.

Thanks, it wasn't as apparent "live" as in this picture. I'll take a look at it.

So I increased the blue cutoff and decreased the blue gain and it was good improvement but I can't turn up the gain enough to get that last pure white before it starts bleeding too much. And even if the blue gain is turned all the way down you can still distinguish those bleeding "lines" but a lot more faintly.

There's something definitely going on with the blue. When checking the grid colors individually the red and green look fine but blue is bleeding through quickly. You can see an extra layer of blue that shows up and moves left/right in sync when turning the gain pot close to max.

I assume the blue section of the chassi needs an overhaul?

There are zener diodes (ZD) on the neck board that often fail. You could swap the ones on the blue drive circuit to a different circuit to see if it affects your bleeding issue. 30X is red, 31X green and 32X blue. Then replace if necessary.

Any 15V zener will be fine.
