Hi,

I had posted this in another thread regarding PGM, but thought this was a more relevant place.

Doing a recap on my rev 14 PGM, I noticed a capacitor was missing, and there is one extra in my cap kit.

Anyone have any idea why this would be missing? Board still runs by the way.

What revision is your board? You can find this on the upper left—see attached photo.

Hmm
Thats odd. Is there any indication that there used to be a capacitor there? (messy solder?) It could be that your board never had one at CB28.

I’ll look on the bottom of the board but I wouldn’t really call the solder messy at least from the top? Would you?

I’m wondering if I should put one in there or not

Hah so this is strange. Here’s a pic of the bottom. This capacitor wouldn’t tie into anything right?

Very strange to me.

So I popped one in there anyway. Really not sure what the purpose of that capacitor is given that no traces on either side of the board run to it.

There's likely more layers on the board than just the top and bottom ones. You can check continuity to GND on the negative side of the cap.

But since it was not installed at all in the factory, it' probably some additional "lets clean this signal bit" capacitor they added first and then cut some costs later.

Yep you called it. Got a little beep when i checked continuity to GND that lasts for a split second.
