I have created some one byte patches for the original Psikyo 68k based hardware titles which re-enable debug functionality.
The most useful option (IMO) is the stage select feature which can be used to practice later levels in games when trying to attain a 1CC.
However, there are some other cool functions like ending sequence viewers, sprite and background viewers, etc.
Gunbird Debug Menu:
Battle K-Road Debug Menu:
Note: "Fighter Edit" does not appear to work at all.
Samurai Aces Debug Menu:
Tengai Debug Menu:
Strikers 1945 Debug Menu:
Note: The Strikers 1945 debug menu does not render the debug menu titles on the main page.
Here are the S1945 menu entries listed in order:
- Monitor Check
- I/O Check
- Sound Check
- Remap Check
- Object Dump
- BG 0 Map Check
- BG 1 Map Check
- BG 0 Dump
- BG 1 Dump
- Exit
- Stage Select
- Ending Demo Select
Attached is a set of xdelta files that can be used to patch your existing game file and enable debug mode.
I recommend using xdelta UI found at https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/ to patch your game.
You need to enable the service mode DIP switch to reach the menu (dip 2 bank last dip).
The later Psikyo SH-2 based games have debug functionality through a "Maintenance Mode" code. See MAME source for details on accessing those if interested.
Enjoy!
