I'm in the market for a new mini/supergun.

Axom? I heard it could take 5 months or so?

HAS - out of stock, and I think they are taking a break.

What else is out there?

I'm looking to buy a complete setup, with a PSU.

Thank you

You can DIY the open source minigun. They're often for sale from various people here on the forum. I haven't used one, but people on the forum seem pleased.

I think there's a ready-made supergun for sale from the Behar Bros website, but I have no experience with it and I don't remember if there were positive or negative reviews.

This thread from a year ago is still relevant today:

The Behar Bros Hayabusa is laggy if you use the PlayStation controller ports, but it's reviewed well. @RetroRGB put it through its paces here:

Their Shogun is supposed to be pretty good too.
NOTE: In my personal experience, traditionally Behar Bros does a poor job of soldering and quality control on their products. The two Toro Dreamcast adapters I bought from them a few years back malfunction frequently, and I've heard similar reports from other customers. Hopefully their quality control has improved these days ...

The HAS is the best SuperGun IMHO and worth the wait - excellent engineering and build quality. I own two and have used them for years flawlessly. If you don't want to wait for them to restock, post a WTB - used ones come up for sale all the time.

I don't own an Axun myself, but most people seem happy with them. It is true that you will be waiting months for an order to fill. I personally once ordered an Axun kit for my second SuperGun, but after a year of waiting for it to fulfill, I canceled and bought a used HAS instead.

The MiniGun is also great and there's several people (such as @the Goat and @brandon.arnold ) building them, but naturally the quality of the build may vary. @QcRetro on Twitter was also building them for a while - you could try asking him.

Some Googling also brought up these MiniGun sellers:

Thank you for the great post!

I did put a WTB/ISO supergun post up, I'm going to try that route as well.
I think tindie, looks like he has the minigun project in stock. I'm going to explore that route, but would love another backup!

Thanks again

So sorry for your cables. I want to clarify some wrong prejudices and beliefs about our products. We've always backed our products. Toro has been around for 9 years. There have been at least 10 revisions with 4 different types of cables. First models were designed to be used as straight not bended as its short coaxial cable is so rigid for the connector. This is the reason why it's broken easily when bended. We changed our cable factory 5 years ago and we are now using the mini din type cables which are sturdier and more elastic than the previous model. This new factory is a military contractor and manufacturing automotive cabling too. Until the pandemic we're sending the replacement cables for free to those who contacted us through our site. Nowadays international shipping cost is so high (even more than the US) so we can't cover it anymore. We're taking the shipping cost only. Btw we also released an upgrade kit for the older models to be used with these newer mini din cables. So this isn't about a poor soldering job as our pcbs can be used for many years and they can't be broken, unless a capacitor leaks. For the last 4-5 years, we've moved to the smd components thus they have been also soldered by pick and place machines in a factory. By this way we can check them multiple times for the quality control in 2 separate factories(pcb+cable) and then by our team before shipping. We are continuously improving our quality and designs. You can contact us anytime for upgrading or repairing your cables.
For the Hayabusa Supergun, its firmware is using an open source code from Arthrimus(also a member of this site) who has been selling this converter for 4 years without any complaints. We later debugged the code too which is using a common Arduino library and couldn't find anything wrong. However with some controllers it's acting weird or slower than normal, so we recommend to use the original Sony PS2 controllers. On that Youtube test, unfortunately it's not used nor compared with similar converters on the market. It would be better to use different types of hardware before giving a verdict. Until this date we haven't received any complaints about our superguns yet.
Thanks for your understanding.

I ordered another Axun supergun recently (I have the big one since before). This time bought the "mini" one for my test-bench, and it only took a month to arrive.

I really recommend both of their Superguns, and at least for the smaller one, the wait time was not bad for me.

That said, your milage may vary and it's possible it will take you longer. Build quality is top-notch though.

There is basically nothing available right now except for the Axom boards. The situation kinda sucks, tbh. Everything is out of stock.

SHAMELESS PLUG; To anybody who needs a well-built supergun with a power supply built-in:

Joko's New Old Stock Sigma supergun is in stock. The last model they produced before shutting their video game division. I only turned it on twice for testing purposes. Comes with composite, S-Video, RGB21, and RGB15 output cables as well as two controller cables (only the S-Video cable is used, all others are brand new). You'll be able to hook up to pretty much 15khz any CRT around. Also comes with a harness built by TOPs that is specific to Sigma superguns. Comes with CPS1/CPS2 kick harnesses. I'll also throw in some DB15 pinouts and DIN13 connections so you can make your own adapters to use your existing sticks on this; (DB15 to DIN13 adapter).

Edit: These are no longer made and sold out everywhere; many Japanese sites like Mak still list them, but have shown them out of stock since 2020. The company still exists as they make A LOT of different applications not related to gaming in the slightest, but it appears they've shut down supergun production.

Edit 2: Removed link to older sales thread. Will be reposted in a new thread.

Will take a lot more pictures and do a test video for anybody genuinely interested. Also, if you are uncomfortable making your own adapter for a stick, there is a matching New Old Stock Sigma stick on Yahoo now that I can help you purchase (same procedure as my now closed proxy service minus the service fee).

I own this SG and I can attest, I have had no issues. It can play anything I trow at it. For this price, it's a steal. All of the cables and harness he is including do not come included with this SG, if one were to buy directly from TOPS. Great price.

Please see my above post as well. I just acquired a new old stock matching stick, so the set is now complete and ready to play. I will relist in the next couple of days after taking pictures and a test video. Due to the S-Video cable already being open, that will be the one used for testing (the others will remain in their packaging).

What will be included:

Please note that these superguns were sold with only one controller cable included. No video cables or a JAMMA harness were included. Everything had to be purchased separately.

supergun x1 (new old stock)
stick x1 (new old stock)
TOPS Sigma supergun harness w/CPS1 harness built-in x1 (new)
TOPS CPS2 to CPS1 kick harness adapter x1 (new)
Official Sigma DIN 13 controller cable x1 ((new)
Non-Sigma branded DIN 13 cable (new)
Official Sigma composite cable x1 (new)
Official Sigma S-video cable (used)
Official Sigma RGB-15 cable (new)
Official Sigma RGB-21 cable (new)
Parts to make a DB15 to DIN13 adapter for player 2 (for DB15 stick or Undamned adapter use)

The price will be $650 plus shipping. Complete set for sale only. I will have it for sale up until the week I move back to the US. If nobody buys it then I will keep it to use in a future game room.

I'm planning to take pictures and a video and then re-listing on Monday 10/23, but if you PM me beforehand I'll reserve it for you and forgo re-listing. Thank you for reading!

(If you are unable to solder and cannot make an adapter for player 2 I am willing to help, but I will charge for my time)
