What's new
The Q6600 Is going to be a slight downgrade, due to the lower base clock. the 2.4 Ghz chip has better ipc then the 4

On a compute side, once you look at single core performance the 2.4gz chip windws up being worth about a 3.2ghz p4

The 2 chips that -could maybe-
work in an x2 would be

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6850 clocked at 3ghz This would be about a 4.2ghz p4

and

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6700 Clocked at 2.66 Would be worth bout a 3.5ghz p4, but give you 2 cores.

The 6700 i am fairly sure is confirmed working , i do not know if the 6850 works, but in theory it is the best chip you could run down to ipc.

Do TTX2 games even take advantage of the extra cores? If not, I can just go with the P4.

they do infact not, the only thing you will gain is lower heat, better speed inside my menu, and better emulation

  1. Emulation isn't needed. I can build a MAME PC for that.
    • Matter of fact, if you have a TTX2 and want to run HyperSpin off it, it is a waste.
    • I'll trade your TTX2 for a MAME PC :P out of principle
  2. Menu speed isn't too much of a problem. Also, I am sure you will also optimize that over time once yo release it.
  3. Heat is a concern though.
But game performance with Niko's multi is the purpose I need served most. So I think I will go with the P4.

I know he doesn't. Been reading his development progress on Niko's thread.

EDIT: And I was speaking in general terms if there is that soul out there that is using a TTX2 as an emu box. I am a HyperSpin pro!!

Eh I understand,I dont see why people want to run emulators either, but i also think is is fully dis-genuine when people complain that A pc running x is worse emulation then Y
I am not the type to rgb mod multi cart my system, Because when i want something original it is original , in the case of the x2, Really and truly the only original element about it is the IO, the games have forced vysnc so as long as your pc, isnt bogged with any type of random process crap(ie windows update/background processes)due to literately how windows api, and gpu calls work the game will run identical on any system with no emulation that meets or exceeds and X2 performance spec. Assuming you are using the Real io board. people can debate that fact, but sadly it is what it is and it is truth

thats why my advice for those that want an x3 multi, is and will always be just replace the motherboard, with one that isnt bios locked, and away you go.

Outside of that, I am a original game on real hardware , or just emulate it because what you are playing has some form of emulation on it no matter how small.

unrelated note, me and niko are silly, and while taking a poo I figured out my last issue.

So uploading now right after I test it few more times

Hi guys,

Here is my TTX2 mod.
This mod is a bit expensive (except the CPU / GPU and RAM), but I like the result and it's quiet.
The most important point is that my wife validated the result as this setup stands in the living room :)

Case: In Win BK644
Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (Cores x2, 2933 MHz, bus 1066 MHz, TDP 75W)
RAM: Komputerbay 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400
GPU: MSI NX7900GS-T2D512EZ 512MB + Zalman VF900 CU LED VGA Cooler
PSU: Corsair SF600 SFX
CPU cooler: Noctua NH L9x65 + Noctua NM-I3 for 775 compatibility + Noctua NF-A9 FLX fan
Fan for extracting heat from case: Noctua NF-A9 FLX

good to see for sure that cpu works, since that has much higher ipc then the stock p4, that should be one of the best cpus you can use.

What does one need to run type x games now? Can I get a broken one and use the jvs card on any old all computer?

Have you booted up this processor and tested that it works with the X2 motherboard? Does Niko's multi boot up?

Yep everything is working fine on my a TTX2 mb and niko's multi.
I've tried a Q6700, and it's ok with it a well.
Concerning the E6800, unfortunately t doesn't work (it boots, I mean no beep, but it's blocked on a black screen)

Ok, so you are saying:

X6800 Works
Q6700 Works
E6800 Does Not Work

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

To make this clear, Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 is better than Pentium 4 651 right?
Does it really make difference in game play? I will only play taito games no emulation games.

I also want to know if ram makes difference as well since its cheap to do upgrade from 1g rto 4g.

A TTX2 doesn’t take benefit from extra cores, it only runs on 1 core.
So a higher clock P4 would run better than a C2D

P4 651 is 3.4GHz
C2D 6400 is 2x 2.14GHz

I see. I better stick with P4 then.
How about ram? I am currently using 1g.
Should I do upgrade it to 4g?

I don't think any game on the TTX2 takes advantage of anything more then 1GB, but it can't hurt ;)

Better let @Niko or @corey confirm how the TTX2 handles extra RAM.

Best upgrade you can do IMO is replacing the fans and installing the multi on a SSD
