what is the event mode in maximum tune 2 on chihiro?

when turned on does this mode do anything?

for maximum tune 2 it adds tokyo metropolitan expressway 50.9km to the VS choices for where to race. the metropolitan expressway 50.9km is also available in the time attack mode when the event mode is not turned on. I dont have card readers attached so i will have to see if it does the same thing when i do cardreader emulation.
