Taito won't sell these separately from the cab, so getting an official price nailed down is impossible.

Help me out fellow arcade gamers, how much are these worth (a complete set is two).
Keeping in mind its only function is to hold the control panel upright in transportation.

I made an offer of 20$ each, which I felt was generous/fair, it was rejected for being too low.
Seller values these at 40$ a pop plus 20$ for shipping (basically 100$ for one pair).
Of course I can't force him to sell 'em, they are his... But is he as crazy as I say he is?
Lets let popular opinion decide!

Responses:
probably next to zero value.
rewrite = 0$
$20 is more then fair.
DecepticonZero = 1$~20$
I would say about $20 a piece is very fair. I would pay that
Derick2k = 1$~20$
That's my thinking too, next to $0 value.
Apocalypse = 0$
I have 2, of course just sitting in my coin box. Want em?
ekorz = free?

Pretty much every cab has at least one set floating in the bottom if not two it seems. So, probably next to zero value.

When I was looking for a set I had three different people offer them for free.

Of the three Vewlix cabs I own, only one ever came with these... And yes it was stuffed into the coin box.
I just don't understand that, I mean these are for shipping the control panel in the upright position as Taito intended to protect it and the LCD from damage.
So if you are going to ship, why would you shrinkwrap the panel to the body and leave the brackets in the coin box?

Are Japanese operators really this lazy/stupid or do they just totally not give a fuck about these machines?
I'm guessing the 2nd one.

He saw both options but in his Highlander world the shrink wrap was the only option

Nothing wrong with narrowing down to a single option, BUT... It should must be the best option. ;)

Shrink Wrap < Shipping bracket

So he actually failed as a Highlander, because he failed to identify the best practice/option.
How does a Highlander contend with failure?

To add to that: Why would it ever even leave the machine?! If you got the machine from Taito with brackets, what use are they outside of for that machine down the road?

Very strange indeed, out of my 5 vewlixs, only 2 came with cp shipping brackets. I guess they must be recycling them or something.

I guess they must be recycling them or something.
Recycling ha, some asshole operator is tossing them in a dumpster.

Anyway, what would you say it's worth?

I've been thinking about trying to pay a metals shop to make reproductions, but it's really only affordable if I did a run of 40+.
As we've been discussing, these aren't worth very much (if anything) at all... So I wouldn't be able to sell 'em and make my money back. :(

Big thanks to @ekorz for the use (I will send them back if he has need for them) of his OG mounting brackets.

Just look at these?
  • Made from two pieces of metal (not a single sheet)
  • No spot welds (vs two welded edges)
  • Bare metal (not coated/painted red)
As I still needed one final set I was able to talk my seller into parting with a pair for 25$ each plus 20$ shipping (so 70$).
His are red/newer style like my existing set.

Still think I got over charged, but not horribly and now I finally have three complete sets to store my 3 cabs properly.

So my final set arrived today (this is the one I spent 70$ to get)...

I now have three shipping brackets, but notice how each bracket is slightly different?
This latest set is just like the set I got from @ekorz only powder coated red...
Similar to my first set that was also powder coated in red, however that was one solid/continuous piece of sheet metal.

clearly mine must have been chewlix brackets :P
