It only takes two people... I had an eye on that but no way I'd pay nearly that much, especially with the visible exposed traces on the bottom of the PCB.

Wow, I am looking for 1 of those, but damn, that sold for more than I got my Ringedge 2 for.

I was the other sucker bidding. I sort of had the feeling that the initial bidder had put in a ridiculously high bid. I was just prodding to find their limit. I knew, knew I wouldn't win.

this is exactly why i never talk about what i have bought, buying, or looking for.... welcome to all the lurkers, speculators, and prospectors looking for a run.

since you guys know you all are looking for one. Instead of the four of you trying to money hat each other and one shill biding agents a high safety bidder.....

you guys could talk together in Pm's, discuss a assumed value and a mutually accommodating buying que? better than the four of you getting in a money fight spending more than each of you should have. Or not talking to each other and coming back here to comment on the false demand you all helped create. Then all the lurkers and prospectors reading the hype are now your competition.

you guys play nice with each other and come up with a buying order that's not forum seniority, but most in need or most passionate. I'm sure Work together would be in y'all best interest. and you won't be butt hurt when one of you out bid the other.

Or you guys can money fight. Upending your wallets. just trying to help. :saint:

5 helpful tips to prevent money fights, shill bidding, and hype

1. Don't talk about arcade buying in public forum.
2. If your bidding on an item, Don't tell the internet.
3. If your not bidding on an item, Don't tell the internet.
4. if your not trying to win, Don't bid on it.
5. bid low, bid often.

I did bid to win. I was trying to find the their limit, but $250 was my limit.

It's eBay. If someone one wants it bad enough, they'll pay for it. They wanted it more than I did.

By the moment I posted the picture, it was already super expensive, I wanted to bid for it, nevertheless I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for it.

I don't think the 4 persons were talking to each other by the time it was still available, a lá "Pipe Full Of Fun Kit Number 7"

Concerning your tips:

1 - agree, you have to be quite naive to do it.
2 - agree
3 - agree
4 - agree
5 - If you do so, other persons looking for the same item will start bidding and the price will increase every 3 minutes. Only sellers expecting to get a LOT of money for their items would advice that.

Looked on ebay a while back for another big blue cab and saw a dedicated SF2CE. Got to a bidding war for it cuz I wanted it. Stopped at $900 because I didn't have anymore money. Checked last week and saw one for $75 on ebay and didn't even flinched to press that buy it now button.

probably bad wordage on my part. my bad. I mean bid low on a item and hope you win at the low price. If you lose, bid low on the next item that pops up and hope you win, rinse, repeat. = "bid often"

eventually you will get it at a good price. Often you see a bidding war on an item, then the next like item sells for say... 30% less or something crazy nice.

Auctions end price only represent the demand of actively searching buyers during the period of its listing. not total market demand.

don't get emotional and throw money at something just to have it NOW. Someone is throwing money at something let them have it, they wont be at the next one.

It's not uncommon for people to attach personal ownership over an available item before they even have an opportunity to pay for it.

"I see this thing i want is available for sale. That means i can Haz buy it, So that means it's mine, I own it now, not you! me!."

- you don't think ebay has put psychologist on the pay roll to figure out how to exploit this?

that seems to be how it all ways goes. pay out the noise because you got a wild hair and want something now. Days later someone crawls from underneath a rock and has a better one for sale. A third the price you paid.

Man if i was brave enough to add up all the $10 here, $30 there of unnecessary extra cash I've spent on collecting stuff because "ARG....NERD RAGE! I MUST HAZ NOW! it would be depressing. Desire and regret are so unbecoming.

Only wanted the Sf2CE because it would match the other 3. Having 4 of the same cab to run a SF tournament would be awesome. Wish I could match the ones that appear in the flyer to make it legendary.

Wise words my friend!

Guys, MissionFailed has solid info when it come to this sort of stuff.

Did the curse get lifted on those?! Lol. Just saying, when you want to get rid of them ;) . I might be moving to NC in a couple of years , could have 4 Big Blues and 4 Vewlix C in line across from each other :D

I am trying to source some of these boards, if you guys are interested let me know and what your price range is.

@jugu I take it your are willing to pay up to $250 if I go according to your bids on the auction above?!

nope, it made it worse. Now I have more cabs to fix. By the time you get here, I could have bought the neighbors location and put in an arcade. It's 4x bigger than our place, we just need to the funds to buy and remodel the place.

Nice, now you giving me ideas. I told the wife if we move down there I need space to make a kickass arcade. I told her basically an addition to the house.

I think I found a place that has some for sale. I'll have an update tomorrow.

Seriously guys, when he makes informative posts about stuff in the gaming/collecting community read up and process what he has to say. I have not seen another person offer the level of information regarding games, trends, collecting, etc like he does.

4. if your not trying to win, Don't bid on it.

"if your not trying to win, Don't bid on it."

this is about collectors that already own an item(s) that's up for auction, and they place a bid just to drive up the price as a way of "protecting their investment".
*Speak with Original Sealed NES collectors for more info. pretty common in Neo_Geo AES collecting as well*

OR forum hypers posting about auction they have no intentions of winning , and place bid because;
"Oh whatever, I know it will go for more"

Wasn't referring to this IO auction, or saying you where at fault of anything. Actually, looking into it I think it is possible that the seller took advantage of you wanting this IO. Or someone hording them and trying to control the price for later sales.

Is there a way to keep track of these IO? like serial number? i always keep photos of items and serial number when i see a suspicious end to a auction. When i see a like item later posted on a forum or ebay at a higher price, i reference my shady SS# and photos.
I haven't placed a bid that wasn't sniped for like a decade
Note this' as normal winning bidder behavior. the best way to win any auction is placing the most your willing to spend in the last 3 seconds. your only bidding against one persons heights bid attempt. And no one has time to correct their bids.

Highest bids placed days or hours before auction end, are pretty suspicious. high early bids only benefit the seller, or next seller with multiple copies. No bidder gains any ground bidding super high so early and its pretty uncommon buying behavior.

if you look at the bidding history of this IO item, its pretty suspect bidding behavior (not on any buyers part).

Could be the seller using another account to shill bid or having a friend do it for them. The seller put in a large safety bid on another account early to ensure it would sell for the price they want. Or have the shill bidding account win agents a buyer that was willing to throw money at it. then cancel the transaction and re-list and the previous high sale price.

or even a prospector putting in crazy high bids, paying whatever someone else is will to pay. then listing their horde at the higher price they created. taking advantage of the false demand they created. and price controlling. basically dictating value wile being the only one with any of them.

the account that won has a pretty shady bidding history. Two bid retractions in 6 months. I would block him. No telling how many auction they have canceled with the sellers approval. that isn't kept track of. and their only bid was placed same day as auction starting.....just so happen to be at least $100 over previous sale history for this IO.

shill bidding isn't that hard to get away with on ebay. just can't do it more that 2 -3 times a year without it looking like "above average " bid reactions for a average account. it's hard for ebay to really pin you with shill bidding if your doing it very selectively. super lame.

Side note: you want to see a pro at shill bidding look at this japan video game exporter. his entire ebay business model is based around using shill bidding accounts.

for that IO it looks like the highest price should be around $120 to $150 + $4-$8 shipping. Not no $250+ $5 shipping. even two of the 4 in the past 3 months where "best offer excepted" so lower than $150.

current 3 months Sega IO board 837-14572 sale history

the one 14645-04 IO Board that sold on March 21st was from Spain and sold for $150 + $35 shipping for a end sale of $185. That DOSE NOT make the IO worth $185. Shipping NEVER ADDS VALUE to a item. the sale was for $150 and shipping is a completely separate fee.

I heard this to ad nauseam and its completely wrong; "well, its sold for $155 free shipping so its worth $155."

"!NO!!NO!NO!" arg.....nerd rage. the true ebay value of an item is : Total Sale price (subtract) 15% for ebay and paypal fees (subtract) 10% of shipping charged for ebay fees (subtract) shipping and/or import duties (equals)= item value.

the Actual value of the IO on ebay has sold at highest (can't know true best offer accepted price) at $150 sold = $127 actual value.

Sounds about right to me. I would gladly pay in that range.

BTW - Man, you broke it down again! :D I gotta get a hold of that seller and see if they have more of these I/Os.
