WTB Dreamcast to Blast city pad hack.

Want To Buy
He isn't stick building, he wants to run a Dreamcast inside a cab.
Dreamcast is a great console, but personally I don't think it belongs inside a arcade cab (uh its called Naomi bro).

Still if that is his goal, the easiest path to that goal isn't pad hacking the Madcatz controllers, or JAMMA keying shit...
Just get two McC, install them directly into the cab control panel... Takes maybe 20 mins, requires zero soldering, costs under 80$ and is compatible with many consoles.

I thought adding the RJ45 took soldering? That's why I said the Brook was simpler, it doesn't, but maybe I'm mistaken?

I think it depends, on mine I had to solder 'em yes, but I've seen them sold with socketed connectors so you could get away with just crimping on one of those.

Correct I'm not building a stick. I do want this in my cab, but it's just so I can have my "poor mans Naomi" until I pull the plug to buy my friends naomi setup from him.

I mainly play 3rd strike on cps3 . Which is why i dont wanna spend a good amount on getting naomi setuo if i could just use a dreamcast in the meantime and still accomplish just about the same thing as a naomi.

Does the cthulu use RJ45 or USB? If its RJ45, I have seen some cables that go from Rj45 to dreamcast, I'm guessing I can just use that .

But if its powers by USB, how would that work to go to the dreamcast ?

RJ45. It's not a huge deal, but the ones Paradise is selling either need you to solder directly to the board or solder in a header. Really nothing to worry about at all, but since you're new to this I was just pointing out that you could avoid it by throwing money at the problem.

I'm a fan of the Brook stuff, they're really good about support, but their retro board is like twice the cost, so it is a little silly in this case. Dreamcast isn't listed as supported for the MC, but I'm pretty sure that's old info and it does.

Yup it works with DC, I've been trying to sell these McC sticks I made for over a year now.

Exactly why I made this thread, I wanted to have someone else either sell me something that can do pretty much what you and @jassin000 are talking about or point me to someone who can.

I like the MC route or even retroboard. I'm leaning towards getting some MCs. But I would then need to find a rj45 to dreamcast premade or solder a dreamcast cable to the MCs.

This cable would be the premade one and work for the MC correct?

The cables you linked above should be AOK, but @Aurich was probably right in that I can't find any pre-soldered McCs for sale right now.
It's not a difficult job, but if you've never done it before I don't think it makes for a good first time project.

This was from when I was soldering/testing mine.

Isnt this what I need ? https://paradisearcadeshop.com/home.../1828_mc-cthulhu-multi-console-pcb-by-toodles

Is there another version if this or something?

No that's what you want alright, but to attach the RJ45... You'll be required to solder.

IDK man, since I'm not able to sell these joysticks of mine complete, maybe we could work something out for you to buy my PCBs with DC cables?
PM me if you want, I'm reasonable.

Unless we're talking about CRTs. ;)

PM him, sounds like you guys could totally work something out. If you get stuck the forum will help you out, and if you really botch something we're just a little drive away, we'll help you get sorted.

Sorry I still need to remove the PCBs from the joysticks and take a pic.
I got the joysticks out Friday night, but got tired and went to bed before dissembling them.

I'll work on getting this done today.

Done!

Thats the plan, to reuse the bodies for a Happ/IL stick proper for playing MKs on the supergun setup. ;)
