Netboot: pi zero stylee edition

So I got my hands on a build from @fsckewe and @Finisterre and built out one these set ups!

I can say as someone who does not switch games very often, I love this set up. No logging into a remote device, not tinkering with an LCD display ... you delete the file, copy the new one, and plug it on. You leave the thumb drive in the Orange Pi Zero and you can shut it off and boot or whatever without having to set the game every time. it takes about four minutes to go through the whole process including deleting, copying to the point of being able to play.

Here is a short video of me fumbling with it. I am by no means a professional film maker so please forgive me.

is the any changes for the netdimm ip address?

what ip address will i write in the netdimm

or should i set a ip address for the orange pi zero

help

set the netdimm to remote

How do I use this thing?
0) Set netdimm network config to remote. NOT static IP.
1) Download the sd card image from the mega link.
2) Burn the image to your sd card - I like etcher (balena.io/etcher/), but use whatever you want.
3) Copy your game(one game) bin the USB flash stick root directory.
4) Put the sd card into the orangepi zero, plug in the USB stick, and plug the network cable into the orangepi and netdimm.
5) Power on the Naomi 1/2 and pi zero.

thanks breakingcade

I already get it running

hi samplehunters
is this been possible with the orange pi zero or it uses the raspberi pi?
I don't believe you need any. I believe you just have to have your Net Dimm connected to your home network and user transfergame.exe from your PC.

Essentially the same as you would with a game, but instead of the game, you have the firmware.

I can't confirm as my NetDimm was already on 4.02.

crossed lan cable am i right

a laptop or pc
then a router?

When I first tried the transfergame.exe I just plugged directly to the switch of my network on a normal patch cable.

I assigned it a different ip address since 192.168.1.2 was already taken up on the network so I just used 192.168.1.33

anybody have issues with atomiswave games on this setup? I just transitioned from piForce tools and am having some issues booting rumblefish and rumblefish2. Haven't tried any other AW games yet but I am getting Error 31 with each game. "This game is not acceptable by main board."

EDIT: pretty sure it is the 1 gig flash drives I got from ebay everything works fine through different flash drives

I was just playing dolphin blue with the orangepi setup last night.

I'll check rumblefish and let you know.

EDIT: seems to be working fine for me.
I am using an orangepi, with the 0.4 image.
Please note, if you have more than one bin on the USB stick, it grabs the first one.

I will tell you the OrangePis that I had were very particular. I would say 1 out of 4 thumbs drives worked. No rhyme or reason. I tried various formats and sizes. It works with what it wants LOL.

Also as @breakingcades said it will only load the first file and ignore everything else.

I had no problems loading any Atomiswave, Naomi 1 or Naomi 2 game using this method.

Hey Dreygor,

have their been any newer images since 1.04? just curious as the github mega link is dead.
