Any advice on fixing the pins on this surface mount chip?

So how does one go about repairing smashed pins on a chip like this? Cut them off and then make tiny jumpers?

They're not bridged from solder, they're actually smashed flat

I'd try to separate them with an exacto knife and if that fails just replace the chip. New SH2 chips can be found.

I'm a little concerned about cutting too deep.

But I suppose this makes sense.

I don't know that this is the only issue with the board, but it's definitely AN issue.

Well, just doing that fixed it.

After looking at it in the new pictures it was just the solder that was smashed so you could clean it up perfectly with a bit of flux and a hot soldering iron if you wanted.

@Mitsurugi-w I guess I misjudged the length of the pins! Maybe I'll clean it up with the soldering iron tomorrow. For now: Gunbird!

I did a Cybattler repair with similar damage to a surface mount custom. It happens from other boards smashing into the pins due to bad storage/transport

A quick reflow of the pins with some good flux fixed that board perfectly for what it's worth
