2020 is the year of Psikyo! It's finally time to get around to filling out my collection. My hope is to grab all of the Psikyo titles I care to own this year (basically everything except Battle K-Road, Daraku Tenshi and TGM).

So my current WTB list is:

Dragon Blaze
Gunbarich
Gunbird
Lode Runner: The Dig Fight
Sengoku Aces / Samurai Aces
Sengoku Blade / Tengai

Space Bomber
Strikers 1945 II

They are rising though. Strikers 1945 II used to be around the $100, about a year ago. Now it’s between $150-200.
Strikers 1 can still be had for about $100, but who knows how long that will hold out.

I believe I sold my Gunbird 2 board for $250 earlier this year.

but yeah, they’re not bad in price, but I see them slowly rising, as all shmups have been as of late.
 
Yeah, they're definitely appreciating slower than most shmups, but going up nonetheless.

Good thing I'm not foolish enough to be buying them for my retirement plan :). I just want to play them!

That's not a bad price. GB2 has been around $140-$200 on YHJ for the past few years. I could see someone paying that if they didnt want to wait for one to pop up on YHJ and deal with fees, shipping or bidding wars.

+/- $200 boards it's really just market noise with +/- $20-$40 swings. %10-%20 swings is alot of the time people just recouping or forfeiting cost (at least on ebay).

I got a strikers 1999 off YHJ beginning of the year. I payed 20,000 ‎¥ and I was the only bidder. the listing was available for months with no takers until i just threw money at it. Another boards was listed a week later and sold for 15,200 ‎¥ with 20 bids.

It really depends on your timing and who else is following the same listing.

Dragon Blaze's price Swings a whole hell of a lot. Some times no one is looking. I've seen them sell a few months ago for 46,000 ‎¥. And I've seen money fights and it the sells For 78,000 ‎¥.

I thought about buying a Dragon blaze several times, but I always decided against it becasue I would have been buying it just to have. I would rather spend time getting better at GB2 and striker 1999. Those two being the only Psikyo games I care to own.

Cool game design. The circle bullet patterns mixed with super fast homing bullets always frustrated me and I would rage quit for GB2.

IMHO they are not appreciating at all, or barely becasue they where undervalued. They are more constant. Someone would have to avoid fees and still pull the same price just to get their money back. Terrible investment. Sorry prospectors.

I don't see much reason to change your buying decisions between 2019 and 2020.
 
Eh, DB was 400 or less every single sale two plus years ago. 1999 and 1945 2 were always 150 or less. Sol Divide rarely hit 100. They've appreciated some (not much aside from DB), but everything has.

This is just me finally getting around to buying them, with a goal of by this time in 2020 to have purchased all of the Psikyo games I intend to own.

Strikers 2 and 3 still just sit on YAJ at 20k. They're there now even.
 
I had a Dragon Blaze at one point. It was definitely a game “just to have” for me. The game is hard af, uncompromisingly hard IMO. Beautiful game though, but these days I’m trying to keep the boards I regularly play.

I feel like every other Psikyo shmup is a training ground for Dragon Blaze.
 
My wife got me S1945 for xmas today!

I already have S45II, but have been looking at getting 3. One just sold on eBay for $75 shipped, one bid, but was an outlier, seems to go for $175-200 usually.

I'm interested in some of the other ones, but not above $200, which seems to be my internal cap for this company. Don't know why, I enjoy S45II enough.

Why are you hunting down all the Hot Gimmick games? Are they any good and are they different enough to buy them all?

Also, didn't you tell me that if you could emulate it, you were skipping the PCBs on games? Did you change your mind?

I'll keep a look out for you and push your way if I see anything cheap!

Well i just sold my Strikers 1945 1 and 2 for $265 shipped

Since the sale of my stuff is not moving it's ok to let them have a new owner , although it will be in a good new home for them

Strikers 1945 1 and 2 always pop up here in sale ,manage to get them always for tge 3rd time.

Dragon blaze in 2003 here in our country don't like the game and the Guwange.

Peoples favorites are Strikers 1 2 3 , gunbird 1 2 and tengai.

I keep missing 3 when it's 100ish. I'm keeping an eye out though.

Hot Gimmick: my girlfriend loves the G-Taste Mahjong game and has demanded we get more like it, ha. I know very little about them. I'd assume it's like Gals Panic where it's the same thing rehashed but with new eye candy.

I did say that. And I am a terrible person and going back on it a bit... At least for favorites? I dunno. I've spent a lot of time thinking about what games I own for the sake of owning, what ones I still want, why I want them, etc. And the Psikyo games are always ones that keep popping back up as ones I want to own.

No worries. There are two 1999s on YAJ as you probably are tracking, but at 200, far too expensive. I think MAK has it total package for 180 right now, so it's probably a 125-175 game. I regret missing the one on eBay!

As I spot any deals, I'll PM you or grab it and send your way. KLOV seems to be the place for the deals on these now, that's where I snagged the S45, but I should say, my wife bought it for me, I just found it! :)

I can't risk letting her get the games, next thing I know, I'd have nothing but Cotton games...
 
@xtrasmiley Yeah, I saw those on YAJ. If it gets down to it maybe I'll buy them.

I got offered Sol Divide (just waiting on pics!), so I'm pretty excited about that. Firgure if I pick up just a little over one a month I should have them all come end of 2020!

honestly If you've got a TTX you can play Taisen Hot Gimmick Mix Party, which basically lets you chose from games 1-4 in the series, Mahjong Hot Gimmick Integral is really the one to get on the SH2 platform though.

Not sure if the TTX version supports dual monitors or linking but Load Runner and all of the Hot Gimmick games have a cool dual monitor support, where you can essentially setup a VS mode where each player gets a unique view using a single PCB. Load Runner supports 4 players with the game extending across 2 cabs, which is pretty cool.

It took me about a year and a half to find this under $100. I finally snagged it for 70 or 80 on YAJ earlier this month, complete with the little adapter PCB and artwork.

Thanks for the info on the TTX version, I'll take all but Integral off my list and add a Type X to my shopping list.

The dual monitor thing is awesome!!

It's weird how different people notice prices differently sometimes. Like I haven't seen 1999 in the 2-300 range so much as like 175-225. But I also haven't noticed Space Bomber under 300 at all.

YanoArcade / ThomasM regularly has Strikers III for 150 euros or less (he currently has one for 170 euros, but his prices seem to change weekly, so maybe worth keeping your eye out).
 
Gunbarich has been going for silly money for a while now, I was surprised when I saw MAK asking $700 for it, last time I was in Japan.

I have seen Dragon Blaze pop up on shmups and AO at reasonable prices, nowhere near as cheap as the others, but $400-ish.

Will keep my eyes peeled for you mate.

there seems to be a lot of bootlegs of Aces that go for cheap but it took me AGES to find an original one for a reasonable price.
