Failed to Write during NetDimm Firmware update

I tried to update my NetDimm from 3.03 to 4.02 and I got this red screen during the update.

I went and tested my NetDimm and it says everything is fine. Any ideas where to start? I have another fulling working setup that I can use to test if needed.

I don't have a battery in this unit, I took it out first thing because it was prob dead...

Could this be bad RAM sticks? I'm able to netboot games (I've done MVC2 and CVS2 so far)
 
I can’t find it but I recall it being recommended to upgrade to an intermediate firmware first, like 3.17.
 
I tried that too, I saw some files that implied 3.17 was supposed to go first but it failed the same way.

I guess I am fine if I'm able to still netboot with 3.03 but it would be nice to have the other options.

I even got Atomiswave games to boot. I'm gonna try Naomi 2 next.
 
You can netboot almost everything with 3.03. Not sure why updates would fail though.

I did have to upgrade one dimm for Beach Spikers, so some naomi 2 games need the updated firmware.
 
Had this once or two, reflow the bios did the job first, on the second one i was forced to change the bios with a brand new lv160 (3.17 inside).
I suggest you to do so
