Astro City II replacement light cover?

Hi All,

I'm not sure if that's even the right name for it, but I have an astro city 2 that has a chipped light cover and I'm looking to get it replaced as I start to restore my cab.

Is there any places one should check for this sort of thing?

The cabs are so rare I would be surprised if someone was selling these.

For a pretty good looking repro you could plexiglass lasercut to the correct shape and the artwork printed on translucent film.
 
^that^ You would have to send it off to someone to repro the art, laser cut the acrylic and reverse mount it I think. Its very doable since its small too.
 
The artwork is so simple that you could easily learn to use Inkscape in an afternoon and vector it by yourself. Then just take the artwork to any store that does prints for lightboxes and ask them do it. They might even put it in the corner of a bigger print and charge you nothing for it.

Inkscape also does .dxf's. Bonus. Draw the outlines for the plexi, export as .dxf, and take that file to a place that has a lasercutting machine.
 
Thanks guys, I'll see what I can find locally in terms of getting a repro made.

I figure being rare I should try my best to keep it looked after, hence why I'm looking to restore it back to its former glory :)
 
Yaton just had some Astro City 2 parts on eBay this past weekend. Looks like he dismantled a cab for parts. I snagged some speakers for mine. I suggest contacting him and checking. He’s come through on oddball stuff like this before.

Nice score by the way, I wonder if yours originated from the same place mine did?
 
I've got 2!

Funny story, a mate of mines Dad used to own and operate arcades back in Melbourne YONKS ago, service, repairs the works.

I went to his factory one day just outside of the city as he was getting out of the game and he had 2. I bought em both.

They need a little love but I'll get them looking good :)

Does yaton have a new account on eBay? I have this seller saved but no recent listings: https://www.ebay.com/str/yaton6262 Any chance you could share the listings link for the speakers you purchased?
 
That account is dead. Apparently, eBay was taking too large of a cut on everything. I thought the more you sold the less fees you had to pay?

Anyway, there seems to be a few different Yaton accounts:

Or maybe these guys defected from Yaton? The above are at least the same op because they use the same stickers on everything.
 
Find a professional business signage / art fabricator. Preferably one that has been in the business a long time and works with lexans or acrylics.
There is one local to me he does all kinds of work for people and reproductions for their classic cars and stuff, not just signs for business's.

I think its gonna be pretty hard to find an OEM replacement at worst the reproduction can tide you over if you must have an original. :)

Its my understanding from hearing around online that Yaton no longer sells on Ebay he only sells on FB.
Those accounts are people he used to work with or something like that. I dont know 100% sure though.

That explains things a bit. I've bought a couple of bits from those other accounts. They had 'yaton' stickers on, but with other stickers stuck ontop!
Hopefully the seemingly never ending warehouse of arcade goodies doesn't dry up, whatever the reasons! 8)

Some things never change. Been waiting on Aero panels since December 2020 🤣

Still looking for the Astro2 marquee square if anyone has a lead on repros. Or how to brighten my completely washed out original.
