Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has been answered before, but does anyone know if you can get a real NesicaXLive system (menu and games) working on a Taito X2, or will it not work because of the network?
I have the brilliant Nico multi, but I like the thought of the full working menu. There's someone selling a HDD and dongle on eBay, and I wanted to check before I bought it.
Any ideas?

Thanks

It will not work. Not only do you need to be in Japan, you need an account, and to profit share with Taito.

OK thanks. I have heard of people having the nxl2 service working outside of Japan without an account, so I'd have thought nxl1 would have been done?

I don't believe anyone has NXL1 or NXL2 working outside of Japan without an account.

Have people hacked the games to get them to work offline, absolutely. But that's an entirely different thing.

Having an NXL or NXL2 drive is useless for 99% of people in this community. The only good that could come from buying it is finding out it had something that hasn't already been preserved on it. I know @Niko was still looking for a few game ID's in another thread (btw, Niko, I finally checked, I do not have any of the games you still need across the drives I have and/or have access to).

Thanks rewrite, yes, I'd assumed it would be hacked to work outside of Japan without a Nesicax account.
It's good to know, I'll give it up. I just really wanted to the full menu experience before playing the games.
Thanks again.

If you want to get real fancy, you could run attractmode on your TTX2, and use the NXL menu out there for it. Then launch your games with attractmode.

A bit of a winding road answer, but it certainly works.

Yes, people have got NXL2 running offline with the original unpatched games and menu, essentially they've created a fake NXL2 server so the TTX3 hardware thinks it's connecting to and communicating with the real NXL2 network. AFAIK they haven't build something like this for NXL1 yet though.

you wont find any info on either of these setups here on AP though.

OK, no problem, I'll not ask anymore. I thought nxl1 might be fair game as it's so old and the free multi has been doing the rounds for a long time
