What's new
My memory is hazy, but I think game settings are saved on the Naomi itself. How else would GDROM games save settings?
Open the test menu (one of the two buttons on the NAOMI filter board) and see if there's an option to reset game settings or something like that.

Tried resetting with and without the game in and still nothing.

Well, it's not clearly evident that the 27C322 has been replaced.

@MetalliC, where is the MVSC2 unlock data stored?

Appreciate all the help. Trying to reset was the starting goal but now want to make sure everything is good otherwise with the rom and board now that you guys said the battery isn’t there.

Did you try the game's service menu?

I’m pretty sure I did. I tried every option in the menus and only 2 had any sort of reset option. Game settings and backlog data. Backlog just cleared coin data and the game settings did nothing.

in 93c46 serial EEPROM on motherboard, there is no easy way to manually erase it. only change cart or DIMM with another game.
So everything is ok it’s just this certain mother board needs to have carts switched to reset? Now wouldn’t that be a problem if I switched carts but didn’t wanna lose data? The battery not being there make a difference?

It would. But right now you want to lose data. Then when you have the data cleared, you don't switch carts anymore. You get another motherboard if you want to play some other game.

I guess the battery and supercap only help store motherboard settings? Book keeping?

Ok so the battery is kind of necessary. Is it just a basic battery I can replace?

that's how NAOMI designed in general:
- you want to clear game data ? - switch cart to another game, everything will be erased automatically by BIOS
- you do not wanna to lose game data ? do NOT switch cart to another game
The battery not being there make a difference?
no in case of MVSC2, but it may have difference for some other games, which store some unlock flags in SRAM instead

Thank you. Just want to be sure everything is normal. Don’t have another game cart so no reset. As long as it’s all good that’s what I’m most concerned about.
