Sup dudes,

Not sure if this is where I should post about Mister. My apologies if it is not. But I have some questions.

I recently got a Mister. Hooked it up. Kinda loving it. Only playing arcade games on it for now.

Right now I have my Mister hooked up to my Sony consumer Trinitron which looks beautiful. However, was wondering about some of these vertical shooters. I noticed that when I try to rotate the image, nothing happens. I'm wondering if Mister is able to rotate the image for vertical games on a 4:3 television yet? I'm sure it is possible just wondering if the Mister does it yet. I have a PVM in the other room for tate games but I'd just rather not have to move the Mister back and forth for vertical games like some sort of barbarian.

Also, I have a question about button mapping. I was able to map my buttons globally, which seems to be fine for most games, but some games for some reason have my buttons mapped to strange buttons. I figured there is a way to map buttons for individual games but I wasn't able to figure out how to do that with Final Fight, and UN Squadron just to name a couple. I'm thinking there is something I'm missing, but does anybody know if there is a way to map buttons just for those games specifically? When I hit F12, while those cores are running, there does not seem to be any option for button remapping.

Okay so here is the last question, and this might kind of a weird one, and I'm not sure if anybody really knows the answer to this. Currently I am using a Qanba PS4 USB joystick. I noticed on Mister Addons there is a spreadsheet listing latency for a number of USB pads and sticks. Some of the values on this spreadsheet seem a little bit crazy. Like 35ms of latency for certain USB joysticks. Is there any real latency when using a USB joystick on Mister? On my CRT it really does not feel like it at all. I do have some nice DB15 joysticks I use with my superguns, and I noticed that with some cores there is an option for DB15 joysticks. My mister does not have a DB15 port on it for inputs. Is it worth it to use a DB15 joystick? Is it really that much faster than USB? There doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion about this online.

I tried looking for info regarding these questions online but was coming up dry so I figured I would post here. Thank you guys in advance!

Hey man!

1. Rotating games I believe mostly works on HDMI (not CRT) although there are a few games that do work on CRT.
2. Yes, open the MiSTer menu and select for the specific game as you're playing it.
3. Each USB controller has different lag, that's why he's doing the chart. Not worth messing with DB15 IMO, but I'm not a pro gamer!

Hey Smiley!

Thanks for responding dude!

I figured flipping the vertical games just isnt a function yet. Thats cool. This thing will probably mostly live on my PVM then.

As for the button mapping, is it the F12 key while running the core that allows you to get to the button mapping settings per core? Or is there a way to do it from the main Mister menu?

Thank you thank you thank you!

1) Yup, HDMI only with a few exceptions
2) From the main menu that pops up in-game, in the menu where it has the option to choose a different core at the top, there's also an option to remap keys for the current core. Choose that, press the buttons you want, and you should be good to go.
3) As XtraSmiley said, controllers can vary wildly in regards to lag. I personally haven't messed with db15 support or adapters. I have two MadCatz SE SFIV stick from launch, both modded with mccthulhu and imp boards, and while they're not the lowest lag, I still find them serviceable. But probably because those are the only home sticks I've ever used, so probably just used to whatever latency there is.

Screen roration is core dependent, shouldn't matter if you're using HDMI, HDMI to VGA converter or VGA on the IO Board.

So here’s what’s weird. I plugged in a lan cable and attempted to run update_all and i got an error about “if you see this you need to edit the ini” and so i reset the Mister and now when i go to run cores im getting a black screen. Dodonpachi loads but so far Final Fight and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs just gives me a black screen. Pretty sure I didn’t change anything…really weird…

Jotego cores require sdram, do you have one?

I’ve had issues before where data got corrupt during update_all. I just nuked the SD card and started fresh. Quickest and easiest way to get up and running again.

Yes I’ve been running Jotegos cores for a few weeks. Looks like all of CPS1 just stopped working. Running update all now. Guess i might have to start fresh though. That’s weird.

Ohhh i think i might know what happened. I bet on my crt it gave me an error about editing the frame buffer value in the ini but it was actually updating but I didnt see it because HDMI wasn't plugged in. After running Update All its working again.

Thanks DJ, I'll move over to the other thread.
