I think I've seen something like this from you in a few threads now almost bragging about how high you paid for a cab. You're supposed to do that when you got a deal. Also do the people you're sharing a community with with the courtesy of spelling out the words instead of abbreviating down to single letters.

i didnt intend for that to come off as bragging. that was strictly transparency with what i paid. in fact it cost me far more than that to bring it over from canada. im not bragging about it, its simply the price i paid. they were saying 5000, and that was not correct.

post edit: and another egret 2 sold for 5500 just yesterday, so i m not innacurate with that price. thats what the market is... i thought i paid a bit too much for it, but apparently i didnt. i didnt fuck up the market, that actually was the market price

Dude but the point is, going into somebody else's WTB thread and talking the price up higher is an insanely bad look. Keep it to yourself. I don't think I've ever seen "price policing" in the wrong direction apart from crypto/stock type forums.

u know what? u r right. i was doing it with good intent, and just wanted to let OP know a realistic price and a more effective way of actually getting what they want, but i think that might have been better to do in a price check thread than on someones wtb. point taken.

As stated earlier in the thread they were going for about 4K. If you paid more than the going rate to get what you want, more power to you. I've done this as well. But have the decency to kinda keep it on the DL in threads totally unrelated to your specific purchase so that maybe someone else can get a better deal in their search and so that your transaction can maybe fade into history as an aberration rather than the new normal. Even in "price check" threads it's not great to talk prices up. Maybe this has been sort of an unspoken or obfuscated thing in certain communities, so I get how if you're new it may not be obvious. No beef with you personally, just trying to explain why your post started the discussion it did.

For the record, I have no skin in this game, no real desire for any Egret (though if I was offered an E29 I wouldn't turn it down!)

you are wrong mate ... these cabinets all togheter use same monitor , arent "astro monitor" . are toshiba + MS9-29 chassis . but the guys are like to supraestimate their things in the hope that they are more important by categorizing them as such . no offence for all of you own any of these cabinets , im sure you love them even are Astro or Taito ones

Umm I have a ms29"T" on one of my Astros....same one used on Taito Egret II. No difference there other than the rotate mech that I don't use just like on my Q25. I have plenty of cabs to care for a rotate mech IF that's the selling point for the 2 or 3 cab peeps. There ain't nothing special, once eg2s start flooding the market like $8k Neo19s were people will regret they spent over $3k on them. I guess I just don't see the "magic" of Egrets when they're inferior to even a Blast even at $1800 I wasn't interested.... Definitely not at $5500.

i hate drama so i dont bring it up, especially on other peoples threads, but its starting to get out of hand. if i am doing something wrong, please let me know, but provide a constructive criticism. i just wanna continue to enjoy the hobby within my means. i dont want clout, i dont wanna scam ppl, i just wanna play real pcbs on real arcade cabs and talk about it with my friends and learn and grow together. i want nothing more and nothing less.

Several of us have tried, multiple times, to very politely give you hints that you've ignored. So I'm going to just be blunt with you, but only since you're asking. Take this with the spirit of constructive criticism and not me trying to dunk on you or be a dick.

Please, be quiet about how much you paid for your overpriced cab and just enjoy playing on it. How many times, in how many threads have you posted about what you paid? Or talked about being happy to pay even more? Nobody even needed to know you paid more than your WTB thread price. You got what you wanted, great, enjoy it.

You're still in this thread talking about it! You cannot let it go. If you're not proud and bragging, and you're not sorry, then why can you not stop mentioning it?

You want to open your wallet to skip being patient? Hey, it's your money. I'm not your dad. Spend away, free country, people can buy as sell as they want. But maybe stop running your mouth about it if you want to actually make friends, instead of being the whale people laugh about when these prices get passed around in private messages and Discords like they do.

Based thread I have never agreed with so many different people all at once; one of the few "faith restored, heart healed" threads we get now and again here lol.

Ye prices suck. The advice of "buy nice cabs from a collector at a premium if you want it RIGHT NOW" still holds true, but whenever even I dish that advice out, I always try to phrase it in a "...AS A LAST RESORT" kinda way. A) because not many wanna sell so don't bother, and B) because some people cant just be fucking patient lmao. We'll get world peace before every real estate investor and oil baron who has more money then friends looks at our hobby with a "y'know, maybe i should learn to WORK ON and enjoy the CRAFT of the hobby with a woodie first" again. "But the pool of cabs are drying up; you cant just expect to find one anymore!!!" but you can tho. All this mention of """bro prices""" are still a thing...for the bros. Maybe, possibly, perhaps, try to look at your hobbies as a way to make friends and socialize over something you like and have in common with others rather then comparing salaries- otherwise just cut to the chase and start dirty DMing each other with a ruler next to it to compare if all you wanna do is measure all day lol. You can still find cabs. AND for good prices. But try to care about more then filling a man cave as fast as possible and the cabs WILL find their way to you via friends. You can be here for a good time AND a long time, believe it or not.

lol, true that. Look, I'm in Candy Land, we're spoiled in SoCal, even during a drought we find deals. But also, we talk, we network, we help each other out. And when a deal comes up for something you don't need or can't fit you pass it to the homie and keep it in the family first.

I'm not as salty as some in this hobby, I'm about live and let live mostly. But these cabs aren't trophies, they're meant to be played on, and I understand how the fetishizing can make some grumpy. Yeah, I've got 8 cabs, but they're not Instagram backdrops, I share them with my folks every single week, rain or shine. (Seriously, we were ending things last week around 12:30am and the skies in SoCal opened up and drenched the last stragglers to leave.)

During lockdown they mostly gathered dust. Some cool streamers really show off their hardware solo all the time, we have several here, not knocking anyone who doesn't host or open up their collection or anything. But to me this is what they're for:

Agree wholeheartedly, all of my fondest memories at the arcade were directly because of the community surrounding it... the hype, the tense matches, the screaming, the high scores and win streaks! The few times I did something completely sick or one credit completed tekken 2 or 3 without anyone there to witness and appreciate it alongside with, those moments ended up feeling hollow.

My Astro also came with a MS9 chassis and Toshiba tube, maybe it was replaced at some point..

The chain of communication on this is a bit confusing, AlxUnderBase is saying New Astro Cities and Egret 2s use the same monitor, and they do, but it's not an "Astro monitor". And sure, it's not, it's the Nanao MS9-29, it's not a Sega product.

But the original point about it being nothing special you can't get for a fraction of the price minus the cab shape and the logo is also true.

If you just want a nice cab to play games on you're wasting your money chasing an Egret 2 over a NAC. Way cheaper, easier to find, same excellent display, easier to find parts, it's kind of a no brainer unless you have a specific desire for a Taito cab.

This. Probably missed that IT was ME that pointed this out because I soon realized that an Egret 2 was just a major inflated FLEX. People really tried to come off as elite having an Egret 2.. it was sickening and made me steer clear after I realized a Blast or Astro were just as good if not BETTER(BLAST). I still laugh and see some of those elites flexing their lonely 3 cabs (Egret 2 being the main focus) versus other collectors that genuinely enjoy their 10+ cabs. I rather have 3 Astros or 3 Blasts before I would have ever considered a Egret II. Im not in the hobby to flex on anyone, just like to laugh at the lonely 3 Supreme cab elites and yes there are some of those people on here, I know they do it for clout and some weird Nerd cred but we see you!
