CPS-2 4-player "mode"

I fired up some games I know should be 3- or 4-player (AvP, Battle Circuit, D&D), but they have 2-player in-game UI and don't respond to input from players 3 & 4. Do I need different ROMs, a test menu setting, or what?

Thanks. Didn’t see it in the one test menu I checked, but maybe I overlooked it. I’ll take another look tomorrow.
