Looking for a replacement 7300 gs card for cho Chabudai . 7900s and that bios will not work I’ve tried.. came in earlier versions of X2 I believe or maybe type x + I’m really not sure. Maybe it’s a 8400 idk..

Lemony tried to assist me getting the bios dumped and onto another card although he got the bios dumped no luck with it unfortunately.

Would be nice getting that game up and running again.

Thanks!

Sounds llike it is an 8400GS.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, have you tried getting an 8400GS, then using NVFLASH cmd line tool to flash the dumped BIOS to it? I suspect you will have the best luck with a Dell or OEM card, but any should work as long as it isn't some XTREEEEEEMEEEEEE variant.

I’m not sure of lemonys method but I’m sure he did. I know he killed a few cards trying different methods.

Maybe there is a version for the multi that would work with newer video cards?

No, the multi only supports games that use the 7900GS/979GS. It also doesn't support special I/O cards (joystick only).

One option is use a decrypted image and modify the Windows install to use a 7900? But could results in glitches/bugs.

I'd try reflashing again with a Nvidia-branded card. You should be able to ignore the vendor/product ID mismatch warnings since this doesn't seem to matters on the 7900, but perhaps table flip is more strict about this. I believe there are tools that allow you to modify that information.

Wondering if @Usukane ever got this video card issue resolved because I’m headed toward a similar situation with the same video card in the same game.

My Cho Chabudai Gaeshi (Table Flip) Type X2 just started giving me the 4-2-3-3 BIOS error “extended block move,” which a Taito Tech Engineer kindly narrowed down to either bad RAM, a bad capacitor on the mobo (fingers crossed not this one), or a bad video card.

Thinking of trying the suggested 8400GS route suggested by @kazuo and curious if it had been attempted to replace the ELSA 584/8400GS?

Thanks!

It may in fact be bad caps, TX2s are notorious for this. Especially around the GPU area, take a look around there for bulging or exploded caps. If you need to recap I strongly suggest using a desoldering gun, the PCBs are really thick and soak up heat, wick isn't gonna cut it. Add fresh solder and tons of flux, then hit it with the gun to clear the holes. Since you seem to be in SoCal, you could even try taking the card and/or the mobo to Northridge Fix and ask them to do it if you don't have the tools or the time. ;)

GPU issues give a different BIOS code, so I suspect that is not the problem (although it is possible). Same with RAM.

Thank you for the tip about Northridge Fix, @kazuo! I didn’t detect any bulging or exploded caps on the mobo, and will take it in to Northridge Fix for an experienced evaluation if the RAM and video card swaps don’t work.

Thanks again for the added perspective and suggestions!
