Hey folks!

I am struggling to find information (or a source) for the MPR-17951A or modern alternative. Anyone happen to know what chip I could replace this with offhand?

I tried with an AT27C4096, but that didn't work. I tested the chip a few more times in my programmer to verify it programmed properly, and it has. Given how expensive they are, I'm tryin' to avoid doing another one if it's the wrong type, and figured it would be smarter to ask before I proceed.

Hey there,

You need a 27c400 as opposed to 27c4096. I've found Intel d27c400s worked well for me, those were what I used until I ran out of "mask rom equivalents" on eBay.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Ahhh excellent, thanks a bunch! Yeah, I did a cursory search for the 27C400 (and the other one listed on the modbios page) but Digikey listed it as obsolete, and didn't give any modern alternatives/equivalents that I saw (though I'm still learning to navigate these places, so it's possible I simply missed it from lack of familiarity).

Do dirty and use a m27c800 and double up the image, it's what I did, because Sega used M27c800 on other stuff, so I always had those.

27C800s are more common than 400s, so I echo AndyGeezer's suggestion:
