Never seen the first one. Maybe there are additional components on the back of the PCB.

The second one is the smd version of the MKL "improved" stereo circuit.

The first one seems design for a much clean installation.

Without more information, I would definitely go with the well known mkl design

The maker of this kit has gone out of their way not to show you the parts side of the audio out PCB. I wouldn't be surprised if you find a few SMD or 4 through hole capacitors there as we. If that's the case, then the 2 boards should be pretty much doing the same thing. One is a DIY, one is a cleaned up version that includes audio out ports and legs to hold it up.

Some people want their mods to look stock / out of the factory look and this gives it to you. If you don't care, the MV-1X seems to be a well tested solution that works but will require you to figure out how to best install it (where to place it, how to get output, etc) If you want something that just works, nothing wrong with buying from Everten.

Thanks
The Everten board has four capacitors on the bottom.
What I'm interested in is the audio quality between the two boards.

They both seem to be simple OP amps with noise shaping/cancelling resistors/capacitors. I'd be surprised if you notice audio difference between the 2.

Good question, maybe we can just ask @everten for more details
My kit is the standard circuit used by others, no benefit other than easy installation and it preserves JAMMA output with a switch where most other mods will disable JAMMA audio. The newer MKL mod does some amplification to bring the output closer to line level.

This is odd to say. I go out of my way to be as transparent as possible. If you have questions just ask…

Your solution is made from 2 PCBs with a ribbon connecting them together. I made the observation that neither your web store nor your installation docs ever show the parts side of the output PCB. Was that done on purpose?

I’m not sure what you’re getting at here. What do you think I’m hiding? It was already answered above by @GalileoFigaro - would you like a picture of the 4 capacitors?

@leonk — “The maker of this kit has gone out of their way not to show you the parts side of the audio out PCB.”

@everten is one of the nicest peeps out there and very forthcoming with information. I highly doubt he’s trying to “hide” anything. Not everyone takes pics of the bottom of their PCBs nahmean?

You seem to be one of those guys who wants to flex his knowledge and be one of the cool kids, frankly you come across as a bit special… if being a know-it-all makes you feel good about yourself, all good, but don’t be such a dick to the cherished creators in our community or assume things in the future.

Thank You @everten !!!

This photo was posted by a user on the arcade parts and spare parts website, and you can see the four capacitors I mentioned.
As they've pointed out, it's highly unlikely that this information is "confidential." A photo of that side of the board simply wasn't relevant.

@GalileoFigaro I have two of the Everten MVS kits installed on both of my FZ kits and they work great.

As everten pointed out, having a switch to change (when powered off) from stereo to mono is a true treat. I use Stereo when on Supergun and Mono when in my cabs.

If no one else posts the mysterious, coveted, secret squirrel underside of the PCB, I'll do so later tonight.

For me and my customers it is relevant. Is he using SMD or through hole electrolytic capacitors? or did he splurge on tantalum or polymer caps? If using electrolytics, are they Nichicon, Rubicon or Cheng X?

Most people get their mods and kits on eBay or AliExpress and don't care. If it works, it's good enough. But you also have modders out there that charge a premium for their work and rightfully justify this due to quality of kits they use and workmanship that goes into them.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that everten was hiding something. But instead that it would be helpful to see which components were used on the most important side of the kit.

You’re taking this way too serious. It’s a project made by a creator — it’s sold well, and it works fantastically. I am unsure who your “customers” are and highly doubt they care at such a great level of detail that you’re sprouting.

You’re projecting elitist B.S. rhetoric at this point. Let others do them and you just do you hombre.

If you’re not happy about how something works, go make an alternative. Your post history is pretty much you hassling people on the forums passive aggressively for things that align with your special needs standards or pointing out things you believe are wrong when half the time you’re the one that is.

“Most important side of the kit” SMH.

Lol, this thread makes me miss A-P :P
Busy times and haven’t logged in in a long time :(

The Everten kits look sweet (for all systems he makes them btw), and like he is hiding something, kinda obvious one side of the PCB is not visible when mounted :P

Welcome back buddy, I'm sure it makes @djsheep happy that he's responsible for your comeback :P

In any case, I've been waiting for everten to restock for a while, if he does, I will purchase a few, they look great and I'm sure they will sound great too :)

Thanks for the feedback all.

Other things have been taking priority, but I have every intention to restock everything that people sign up for stock notifications on. It’s really my only gauge on interest, so it is much appreciated when people use that function.
