What's new

Restoration almost done !

Today I went to pick up the 0.5 mm PCV front panel plate for the Instruction panel (CQN-0001). These are impossible to find on the web so I had to have it custom made. It costed me more than $150 but it's some very good quality stuff. Original patented PVC made in Switzerland. Pics are showing the old and the new one.

Btw, the back part of that panel is already reproduced by some guys on the web. I didn't buy it yet so I can't say about the quality but in case they are not good I'll ask the company to produce one. Once bought the back panel I'll share too.

Ps. at that time I remember that the Pony 25'' instruc. panel that I bought on the web was from some very poor quality material so I had to ask the company to make one for me

Lovely commitment to the restoration @erzane. I’m impressed with some of the info you have on obscure parts. Where do you get the info like who made the original parts?
I'm doing blind researches on the web but most of the time the manufacturer (or a ref. number) is indicated on the part itself or in the manual so it's easier to go back up the thread in this case. If you find a supplier for a specific part it may happens, if you're lucky, that the same supplier is selling another part in the same website. I found the hinge like this. Then I take a closer look and try to get in touch with the supplier in order to ask him for a confirmation. That way Sugatsune confirmed that they were dealing with Sega at that time. Stuffs like that hahah

Good to see you still chipping away on this. Can you tell us where you got the leg levellers and castors from please @erzane? I’m interested in some for my aero resto.
> Casters (601-6151-01) are from Nansin (KHH-50PH)
https://www.nansin.co.jp/en/product/caster/low-hightheavy-duty-casterplate-type/khh/
In some manuals you'll find Nansin. In some others, Takigen. Depend on the year of manufacture. I think early NAC had Takigen. Then from '96 they asked Nansin. Or the opposite...

Screws : HEX NUT TYPE 1 M6 / SPR WSHR M6

> Leg adjusters (601-6076) are from Sugatsune (MKP-32M1C)
https://www.sugatsune.com/adjustable-glide-supplied-w-kd-555-28-at-nc-mkp-32/
I chose chrome since it's matching the leg adjuster bracket but you can also take stainless steel. Sega ordered some chromes anyway.

Incredible work @erzane, thank you for sharing the details on your process. Great sleuthing on the manufacturers that Sega used 30 years ago too! It’s amazing that some of these parts are still available new and I really appreciate your attention to detail.

Just an update if that’s okay @erzane - I’ve been in touch with Sugatsune and they contacted their Oceania distributor who is B2B only. They suggested I contact Sega, but I explained this was futile. They’re going to see what they can do from Japan, so any details on how you got yours will be great.

I ordered them from Sugatsune Europe. They were very fast and I get the goods without any problem but if you're in Australia I doubt they will enter in consideration... Maybe you can check by Rakuten. Ive ordered a lot from them also. I think they have these leg adjusters...

Regarding the casters, I asked the help of my contact in Japan. Any bid agent should be fine btw.

Today I received a brand new neon holder ASSY FL 15W W-CONN (390-5446).
The NAC version is shorter than the former '93 Astro. You must choose 485 mm lenght for the rail (the LED is 436 mm long).
Choose L type for a higher socket holder or S type for a lower socket holder.
Ps. you can also change the sockets if you wish

Now my only concern is to get an FL BRKT (NAS-1202). If someone have one thanks for letting me know because without that rail (which is a Sega part) I can't install the neon holder.

Guys,
I removed the ballast from the shema.
Do you agree if I say that FL15W LED ''AL'' could also go to ''Conn White (UP) Posi 2'' and ''BL'' to ''Conn White (UP) Posi 1'' ?
I mean, it doesn't matter since once the ballast is out the pins of the LED are both the same right ?
Thanks
