Help, linking 2 WMMT3 Cabinets for 2 Player!

Hi guys, I recently acquired a set of Maximum Midnight Tune 3 cabinets.
They work great, I’ve done a bit of small repairs, but i’m stumped on my current issue.

I can’t seem to link them together for multiplayer.
They did not come with Crosslink Kit and cable as the manual states. So I’ve purchased over 10 different crosslink cables from amazon and adapters, cat5 and cat6, all result in no linkage. I’ve flipped the connections and change PCB IDs many times.

The manual stated to use a crosslink cable and set the PCB IDs as 1 and 2, and the total number of cabinets (2). I’ve rebooted many times and changed the settings within the 5 minute allowance that the manual states. The Ethernet jack looks fine and not damaged. One cabinet (right) does show LINK AS:1 and the other as 0, not sure why they one on the left can’t link to it.

These came out of an arcade at our local mall and they did indeed link together for game play. I personally played them
there as linked.

Any guidance here? Thank you!

Have you tried a network switch and two regular ethernet cables? You can use that instead of a crossover cable.

Do you have link lights on the ports when the cable is plugged in? If so then I would guess a software/configuration issue.

Check the clock in the settings. If the time is mismatched, linking can be problematic.
 
The instructions suggest there should be a pair of RJ45 connectors on each machine and you end up daisy-chaining machines to each other rather than plugging everything into a switch. Are there any others apart from the one that looks like it's integrated into the motherboard? What does the wiring diagram look like for more than two cabs?

The warning suggests running two cables in parallel will cause problems, which isn't entirely surprising.

Yes, that's what I'd expect, but the manual page mentions two RJ45 connectors in the context of two cabs which is what confuses me. It's not clear if that's receptacles on the motherboard, or plugs on the ends of cables and there's more than one cable.

Using a hub would actually be worse than just using a crossover cable given a hub is only half-duplex.
 
I linked 4 cabs but with Wangan 2, which was on Chihiro and not the N2 of the Wangan 3. You had to set up differents IP for each of them ... you probably have something similar in Wangan 3?? what are the Ips
 
So I have 2 units.
The manual states to only use one crosslink kit, which i’m assuming is a crossover cable (right?).
Then the manual states to list each unit as PCB ID 1 and PCB ID 2
Then check if each unit list as: LINK AS:1 and LINK AS: 2, i don’t get the LINK AS:2 on the second unit.

There is only that Network port, none anywhere else.

You don't need anything more than a crossover network cable in between.

What version are you running? Version number is in the service menu, under Others. The version needs to be exactly the same with the two cabs, otherwise they won't link.

i don’t have link lights. they don’t like up or blink at anytime. that’s both PCs.

I haven’t tried a network switch yet. i will order one today.

I will double check the clock settings.

Reset them to defaults again, and start over. The left unit should be '1' and the right unit should be '2'.
Start from left to right. Set up machine 1 first, and enter test there first.

It seems to show the last blocks of an IP in the bottom right, and i see different ranges. 270.28 and 274.something.
Both machines need to be on the same subnet so i would have expected 270.28 and 270.29 for example.

I guess one of the machines might act as a dhcp server or something, and it would probably be machine #1.
That's also probably why machine #1, left, needs to be setup first.

But this is all assumption, i don't actually own, or have owned a wmmt3 pair. I do know a lot about networks. :)

Edit: also set up left #1, then that machine first, and when #1 is booted, you go for right #2 setup..

Edit: No network connector in the coin box? Nothing hidden behind metal plates or our of sight behind the PC?

270.xx and 274.xx is actually a timer counting down to make the link.
It starts at like 300 seconds and counts down. They never pair, so it counts down to zero. There is no IP info anywhere.

I have no problem linking 2 cabs with a cat 5e crossover cable. I don't think it matters which one is set to id# 1 because mine left cab id is 2 and right cab id is 1. If you have 2 computers you can test the cable by pinging each other.
Mine the cable light is on and blinking when both cabs turned on.

i wonder what’s blocking mine then?
 
Not sure. Could be not plugged in properly or bad cable?
Maybe you can contact the seller to see if he can help you.
