Any budget eeprom programmer you recommend? I already have 2 or 3 soldering irons and a multimeter, seems I need a simple logic probe and the eeprom checker.

For Eproms there is the TL866 programmer which support many eproms and is a good start. You'll also need an eprom eraser. Logic probes should be easy to source. There are many and they are not expensive.

Ok ... agree with Darksoft by reccomend you a good programmer ( i also have it and is perfect for my needs for using on chips who have maximum 40 pins , but maybe you will want to not want to have hadaches by writing 42pin eeproms using the compatible adapter for TL866 II Plus programmer) .

my programmers are : TL866 II Plus (im using to write / read gal chips mainly) , TOP3000 for the rest and not the last Proman programmer witch is for chips that are used on multi's like Irem M92 , Sega System 18 , Namco System 1 & Namco System 2 .
