So I got my X2 and IO from Japan today which is exciting! Still have to wire up the io in a project box but wanted to share some pics of this beautiful box. While the listing was higher than average for a X2 (20k JPY) the pictures showed an almost pristine chassis which for most arcade boards is rare.
I opened it up and sure enough, this is a mint, unused X2 notice the complete lack of dust anywhere including the heatsinks
I've swapped out the 512MB ram for 4GB and it still boots up fine, being a 205A and not documented I confirmed that KOF13 Climax works so this model isn't like 207A with compatibility issues.
Onto my question though - since it was cheap I purchased a Core 2 Duo E6700 which according to http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/Q965_Express.html should be supported. I figure having double the cache and higher FSB should make it faster than the 3.4GHz P4 that is in there stock. Is there any real reason to upgrade the CPU or should I leave it as-is?
Also how do I remove the cover on the DIP switches without destroying it so I can set 720P mode?
