What's new
the funny thing is I'll have 4-5 of these in stock for weeks with no sales, then everyone decides to order at once :D

Must have missed them as a checked for holsters a few weeks ago :(
Ah well, we’ll wait till your next batch :)

Well I did tell you about TS's topic and my need for his well thought out prints @PascalP :D

Btw, I also need a black print for the DC and Saturn (Rhea & GDEMU).

@twistedsymphony I have received your 3d prints and I have to say, they look awesome! Very highly detailed prints, they are an EXACT fit! What I particularly like is the LCD case, where the back slides in and secures the module inside, very nice. Also the GDEMU and Rhea trays are very impressive, thanks again!

I received a couple of CPS2 covers and a holder before Xmas, even printed me up a Silver one specially.I forgot to thank you @twistedsymphony.

They're great! Really appreciated it, sorry about the late Thanks kind of forgot, it was a pretty busy time of year.

no need for thanks :D

Though it is always appreciated to get feedback, good or bad. One of my biggest fears is always that I'll send out this stuff and people have problems, and instead of contacting me they'll just not use it and feel like they wasted their money. If something doesn't fit right, I want to know, so that I can make my stuff better, and make sure everyone is happy with what they bought.

Hi :

You know my thoughts on the subject. Polish, polish, polish.
Hopefully one day the 3D printers will make the plastics (finish) as near good as the jiffy boxes that are genetically order from the electronic shops.
I must say your designs fit nicely. To me the final result so far is a little rough, but that is fine suits my retro theme to a tea. I thought by now the 3D printers would be further along.
Thanks for all the hard work and effort in your design work and finals prior to shipping.
The items arrive clean, neat, no swarf. Which in itself is nice.
Hopefully the rest of the plastics ordered are of the same finish.
Else I will be bugging you for some red labels. Lol :D
Btw this is not a bagging in anyway. So don't take it negatively.

You can get prints that look like that, it's simply cost prohibitive.

SLA and SLS printers can produce plastics that are nearly indistinguishable from injected molded parts, but the machines are 3x and 10x the price of a FMD printer respectively and the material cost is 3x and 10x the price of an FDM material as well. I mean I could buy one and start printing with it, but you'd be paying $40-$60 for my prints instead of $15-$25.

FDM can print with a lot more smoothness as well but it requires stepping down to a smaller nozzle. Currently most of my parts print in 4-6 hours with a smaller nozzle it would take 18-30 hours for the stuff I print and the strength of those parts would be worse. Cost would go up slightly as well because with longer prints you get worse yield. Smaller nozzles are great if you're printing miniatures or models but it's not so good for "functional" prints that need to have some strength to them.

I chose the printer type and the print resolution that I did because it's IMO the best balance of physical strength, reasonable cost, and finish quality. If you want completely smooth parts you're more than welcome to find someone with an SLA or SLS printer and have them print my designs for you (they're all open source), it will cost a good deal more than what I'm charging though.

Hi : twisted

As I said I am happy with the end result. Glad you confirmed that these more pricey printers take longer and more time to produce a finer grade. Also at a poorer case strength.
I appreciate your effort.

Here's my print of twistedsymphony's LCD-housing, currently attached to a CPS2. I'll lengthen the cable and attach it using some 3M velcro-tape inside the machine - within easy reach, but not so easy I'll change games too often ;p

Great design, thanks for this!

Just to add to this (since I have a cheap and cheerful 3D printer that does the job fine with solid designs like Twistedsymphony's), you can get coatings that you brush onto your prints (or the prints you've bought that cost $20 rather than $60), and then buff using sandpaper until they look smooth as all hell. I used it right at the beginning, but soon stopped; it takes absolutely ages, and at the end of the day I kind of like the textured look of the prints as they are. Also, it's not worth hours of my time. But the option is there.

@twistedsymphony

Do you also make the USBGD Tray that is listed on Bit District?

If so any way of getting the following items without a ridiculous 50% of the cost $24 shipping fee? I mean are they that large that it costs $24 just to ship these 3 items? I would have seen $10 - $15 as reasonable....

USB GDROM Tray
CPS2 Multi LCD Holster CPS2 Multi LCD Holster
CPS2 Multi / F3 Multi LCD Housing CPS2 Multi / F3 Multi LCD Housing

I own Bit District, and everything sold on there was designed and is printed by me.

not likely, international shipping costs have gone through the roof, the costs on the site are automatically calculated based on the item weight. right around 11oz (310g) the price jumps from about $15 to $24. 2-item orders sometimes sneak in just below the limit and on those I issue a refund on the difference but 3-item orders are almost always above it.

I charge a whole $1 to cover the cost of the box, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, label, and tape, other than that you're paying the actual cost of shipping without any markup.

Believe me, if there was a cheaper way I would use it. I'm sure I'm losing a lot of business due to the ridiculousness of these shipping costs.

Hi :

I would like to interject. I thought originally prices for shipping were a little high.
But shipping mainly goes to the companies shipping. Twisted designs are very good. The product is backed up, service questions are answered properly and most of all he is too damb efficient.
The shipping is super quick to send. Where do you find the time twisted?
Love it!!!

I appreciate the kind words :)

I do try to offer the best service I possibly can and it's nice to see it noticed.

FWIW I offer all of my designs for free on thingiverse (link in the first post) and you can find someone local to you with a 3D printer using 3dhubs.com they may be able to offer cheaper printing/shipping than I can.
