Banks in Japan only do rolls of 50. My brother in law hooked me up but is not in Japan atm otherwise I could ask him but not sure when he will be back.

That reminds me, I have that spare audio probe pcb and components still for you. I never made a cleaned up / enclosed version but I can shoot you some photos of the functional-mess that I've been using. Maybe you want me to build you that, or maybe you'd rather just have the components.

I have 4 single 50Yen pieces.

@jassin000 those are cool! i guess i'm just assuming my cabs will need 100y. are those the same size as a 100y coin? Or did you have to adjust your mechanism to accept those?

They are smaller than 100yen coins, so the original mechs would need adjustment.
I opted for this device...
It's called a Any Coin v2 and is 3d printed part, acting as a full mech replacement.
With one of these installed it will do just as the name suggests, pass any coin directly to the microswitch/cashbox.
See the spring I attached to the coin return button above?
It keeps tension on the return button (so it remains pop'd out and not floppy) but of course pressing it has no effect.

I went to Japan with @Derick2k and loaded up my backpack.
I recommend you do the same before they disappear (most arcades in Japan have switched over to card readers).
Haha time to book a flight! Don’t think I’ll get out to Japan any time soon unfortunately. My brother and I mostly played games at putt putt growing up, maybe I can find a bunch of those tokens. I ordered an anycoin so thanks for posting that. I didn’t know of it. That site needs more products. I’m sure there are plenty of plastic parts that could be useful.

Just be aware that while the token itself will work with the Anycoin... The Vewlix acceptor slot is very narrow (and the token might not fit down that).

Yes it is in theory replaceable, but I've never seen a replacement with a larger slot (and I don't believe Taito ever made one).
I have all types of tokens if you want, what are you looking for and how many?
