Do I need to change the firmware in order to run the unencrypted version of the ROMS? I bought my kit a couple of weeks ago, so I'm guessing my kit came with firmware version 3.1.

Hi, I just ruined one of the key-writing pads :(. Specifically, I ruined the DATA one. Where it used to be copper, there is none anymore. I used too much heat, apparently. Is it fixable? If not, can I still play the unencrypted version of the ROMS? Do I need to change the firmware to do so...
