I would of course compensate you for your time if you end up considering again :D
Count me in for a meet up if it ever eventuates! COVID has wrecked any chance nowadays.
Thanks fellow kiwi! I wish there was someone in AKL who could do this for me 8| You are right in that it's not that bad in the grand scheme of things. It's just the only thing that I consider "wrong" with this cabinet now so feel like I should address it at some point. The good thing is you...
Thanks for the links and tips! Just need to drive up the courage to give it a go. Also find a way to see the monitor while adjusting (a series of mirrors I guess!)
What parts are safe to touch? I'm terrified of shocking myself...
My House of the Dead III cabinet is almost perfect, except the monitor has these warping/geometry issues. Top-right and bottom-left appear to be "squished":
Can this be fixed easily? I live in Auckland NZ and don't have access to anyone who can repair CRTs (that I know of)... I'm willing to...
So...... funny story..... after some time I found the game itself was starting to switch off as well (when this first started happening, it was during the test menu only - not sure why). Opened it up and found that I had fit the Chihiro case fan the wrong way around.... so it was sucking air...
I have a weird issue with my HotD3 machine where it crashes when I enter the test menu.
I can turn on the machine and it boots the game fine and I can run it for hours without issue, but when I press the test button and enter the test menu, after a few seconds I get a black screen and flashing...
Hello - can anyone please confirm if the UD-USBs work fine with the Brook Retro board? Had a search around but couldn't find the answer..
Putting one into my fightstick so just checking if I need to also put in a Brook UFB to use with the UD-USB, or if the Retro board will be fine on its own...
Question!
I'm planning on grabbing a SEGA Naomi system with JAMMA IO converter. What's the deal with power etc. when hooking this up to the HAS? Since the board + GD-ROM has its own power supply... do I need to worry about anything in terms of the power that's supplied via the JAMMA connector...
Well, 3 months later and IT WORKS!
Sorry for the terrible quality video - just a quick shot to show it in action
It was the core board in the end, as I had thought. Got the replacement sent from giz10p in the UK, swapped it and it's alive! The replacement board was refurbished...
Can anyone confirm if the HAS is safe to use with the gscartsw? Planning on getting one and there's a massive warning on the store page to not use it with superguns... I'll probably just leave my HAS out of the setup to be safe but I'm wondering if he's just talking about the cheap superguns...
Yeah! Pretty confident the motherboard is busted. I'm ordering a replacement in the new year so fingers crossed that's all I need to do
In the meantime I'm giving this thing a thorough clean inside and out - the monitor is caked in dust!
Where are game and system settings stored? Pretty safe to assume the coin battery on the base board keeps system settings stored, but what about game specific settings? Since my HOD3 game is stored on the CF unit, do I still need the separate battery that is normally connected to the media...
Thanks for the tips! I can confirm the case fan is still spinning, but I didn't think about the fan on the heatsink - I'll take a look at that later today.
Craig from giz10p got back to me and can send me a replacement bottom board which I think is the culprit, as I remember noticing some weird...
I have a type 3 Chihiro that won't boot and it's had a CF conversion done by giz10p. I need to replace the bottom/Xbox board (with the GPU etc) - is it just a matter of swapping it out or would my board have been modified to work with the CF card conversion? Where does the firmware sit exactly?
Opened the Chihiro unit up and didn't see any blown/swollen caps. Looks like the GPU may be poked as the seller said it would work for about 30mins before switching off. Then it just stopped working one day. I'm guessing it was overheating and eventually fried it. Might see if I can get a new...
