I realized what the issue was. One of the wires broke on the psu cable. I couldn’t see it because it was a black wire on a black plug. Well that solves that lmao

Hey guys, I’ve had a minigun for a while and now the 5V won’t stay consistent. I thought my issue was a faulty PSU (meanwell RT65A) so I ordered a new one. I turned it on and the voltage won’t stay consistent. It keeps going up and down between 4.5 and 5.0. What could be the issue?

Might as well keep this thread open for another issue rather than make a new one. I got another A board that’s giving me jail bars. Tested it with all 3 of my games and I get the same result. No bent pins nor any noticeable damage on the motherboard. What can I check for this?

Final update: the audio was bad because of the coaxial cable we used an RG174. I swapped it out with an RG316 and now it works great!

Now there's no audio. Thought the funny looking capacitor was the culprit but after swapping them its the same. Other capacitor works fine on the donor board, now im checking the wires for the CPS2 digital av.

Update, turns out the hdmi mod was installed wrong. The 5V and ground was backwards, wish I caught that earlier it would have saved me a headache. Lol

We can’t identify where the short is on the pcb because the power supply is shorting to avoid overheating the chips.

That's where i'm at now. I've been trying to find where the short is and currently no luck.

Im getting 0.00 resistance on both 5v rails and its barely climbing past 1.6 on the 12v rail.

Yeah it’s not a big deal, I snipped the wires off anyway. I’ll try using a blade to scrape it off and if that doesn’t work I’ll just leave it.
